PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL Fourth Sunday Of Advent - Year C Invitation to Prayer: My brothers and sisters, attentive to God’s word and believing in the promises of the Lord, let us pray for the good of the Church, the birth of salvation in the hearts of all people and for peace in the hearts of all human beings. Concluding Prayer: O great and most high God, who come to your lowly people to visit your servants and redeem them in your Son, make our hearts leap for joy at the sound of your Word, as we prepare to celebrate his birth, and move us, we pray, by your Spirit to praise your wonderful works. Through Christ our Lord. Or: Come, O God of glory and majesty and through Jesus visit your people with the gift of salvation. Come and hear our prayers this day, that with the same spirit of service as Mary, we may hasten the coming of your Son by announcing the good news of his incarnation, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL Fourth Sunday of Advent - Year C - December 20, 2015 Deacon or Reader: 1. For the Church, called as Mary and Elizabeth were, to greet the Lord in all visitors, the sick, the expecting and the lonely; for the health and well being of the clergy during the Christmas Season; and for all who serve the people of God. Come, Lord, and visit us. 2. For the world, called to rejoice in the Lord’s presence; for the swift coming of God’s peace and justice; and for those who carry the burden of public service. Come, Lord, and visit us. 3. For all Christians, filled with the Holy Spirit to serve in mercy and love; for those who await the affirming presence of God-among-us; and for all who affirm the gifts of God in others. Come, Lord, and visit us. 4. For those dissatisfied by riches, power and success; for all who suffer in this season and those who help them; for the hospitalized, the home-bound and the sick, and for women and men who stand with the poor, the hungry and the unemployed in their search for justice and love. Come, Lord, and visit us. 5. For victims of violence and those who resort to hatred and terrorism; for healing among all families who have lost loved ones; for those who are disheartened and grieving; and for a warm welcome for all refugees arriving in our country. Come, Lord, and visit us. 6. For the safety of all our families and travellers throughout the holidays; for those who have died recently, and for all who are grieving. Come, Lord, and visit us.
