My name is Christine McNamara, I live in Napier NZ. Yesterday in the mail I received a copy of your
information on the Salts family from your website, sent by my cousin Vivienne Allen (nee McNamara) who
lives in St Helens. She intends to contact you as well. We have a connection to your family through the
Salts and thought you'd be interested in what we've found so far.
Our great-great-grandfather William Wareing married Ann Salts at St Phillips Church Liverpool on 11
August 1839. Ann was the daughter of William Salts and Anne White, and William in turn was the son of
Thomas Salts and Ann Padmore married 22 January 1781.
It seems that your side of the family is descended from Thomas Salts, son of William and Ann Salts, and
our side of the family from Thomas's sister Ann.
Let me know if you would like more information and I will send you what we have found. It seems odd to
be writing to someone who shares a three, or is it four times, great grandfather.
By the way, I come from Liverpool originally and have lived in NZ since 1966.

I'm still working on our Salts families and trying to prove the connection, but in the meantime while going
through all the bits and pieces I found this little snippet. My cousin Vivienne found it on a microfilm about
Liverpool "Worthies"

The interment of the late Thomas Salts who died at his residence at Sackville Street, Everton, took place
on 12 February. He was aged 70.
Service at Holy Trinity Church followed by interment at Anfield Cemetery.
Mourners included his sons, Albert and P.T. Salts, sons in law A Barnes and J Kirkby, and grandsons
R.T. Salts and A Salts.
30 April 1920
Thomas Salts of Sackville St, Liverpool, plumber and painter, left 1934 pounds in his will.
This looks to me like your Thomas and Albert. Obviously Thomas was a man of some substance to leave
such a large amount in his will.
Vivienne also found various references in Liverpool Trade Directories, one in particular will interest you:1874 Thomas Salts, Plumber, 116 Gt Homer St.
Also in the same year are:Jonathon Salts, Slater and Plasterer, 105 Howe Street, Everton
Thomas Salts, Slater and Plasterer, 28 Barloshare, Kirkdale
William Salts, Plasterer, 49 Virgil Street
We think that your side and ours were cousins, at the time you're looking at. I will try to have a really good
look at all these people, frankly there are so many Thomases it makes your head spin! Then I can get the
information to you. Do you want me to come right up to the present day with my information?
I was interested to see that some of your family are in Taupo, I used to live there myself, and it's only a
couple of hours over the hills from Napier.
