This course will have an online component to it where students will be expected to work independently. The aim of this course is to enhance students’ ability to perform in such an environment by providing them with ample opportunities to analyze and organize information from different readings and present their ideas concerning the readings in written form such as paragraphs and essays. There will also be in class discussions involving what is read. Through this course, students will develop the essential skills needed to perform better on the reading and writing sections of the TOEFL iBT and the reading section of the TOEFL ITP. Additionally, students will be provided with the fundamentals for writing at the university level in universities abroad. Students thinking about taking my ACE 3 TOEFL iBT course will benefit tremendously from taking this course as well. Students will be required to use computers for this class. Please consider this carefully before registering. You must have some degree of proficiency with computers, as there is a significant online component with homework and assessment being completed on a computer. Additionally, the course is meant to help students with preparing for the TOEFL iBT which is a computer-based test. However, you need to be aware that you will be revisiting much of the material you covered before with the same textbook, online work and types of essays to be covered.
