(MONDAY 1ST JUNE IS AN ALLOCATED INSET DAY FOR STAFF) Dear Parents/Guardians, Well done to all our Year 6 pupils who have now completed their SATS! We are extremely proud of how hard they have worked. Yesterday evening Our Lady of Lourdes hosted the Annual Knights or St. Columbus Quiz, welcoming some of the local Catholic primary schools in Southport and Formby to this popular and often challenging event! Thank you to all the staff and families who supported. We were represented by Daniel Birks, Tom Booth, Emily Burnip, Amy O’Neill and Eleanor Newton supported as the team reserve. It was a highly entertaining evening and all teams participated well. We were ‘pipped at the post’ but came a very proud second. Well done to all who took part! A reminder that for those involved in making their First Holy Communion and Confirmation the first practice will take place after half term at 6.00 p.m in St. Joseph’s Church on Friday 5 th June. The following morning the first service will take place at 10.00 a.m at St. Joseph’s Church. In the end of year tournament on Tuesday evening, the Our Lady of Lourdes Year 6 Netball B Team played exceptionally well, against seven teams from a higher league and managed to win their entire group, beating Holy Trinity and Farnborough Road, to play Shoreside in the final. The score was 7-4 to Shoreside; the Our Lady’s team gave 100% throughout, showed excellent teamwork and commitment and should be extremely proud of themselves! Those medals really suit you girls! On Wednesday evening, Our Lady of Lourdes hosted the end of year netball tournament for teams who had finished in either first or second place in their respective leagues. The OLOL A Team dominated their group, beating both Marshside and Kew Woods, to reach the highly anticipated final against Birkdale Primary. By the end of the first half, the score was 5-1 to Birkdale; however, Our Lady’s staged a spectacular comeback in the second half (after an inspirational team talk from Miss Ross!) and managed to emerge victorious, with a score of 8-5. The girls all did themselves and the school proud! May I take this opportunity to thank Miss Connolly, Miss Milne and Miss Ross for all their hard work in supporting and coaching the teams. Thank you to Miss Flynn who supported in the tournament also. M. C. Hillsdon Headteacher LOST ITEM A silver chain and locket has been mislaid in the Year 2 area of school. If anyone finds it please return to the school office as soon as possible. LIFE CARAVAN Please can we ask all parents/guardians to pay their £2 donation as soon as possible towards the Life Caravan, which will be for the use of all children in school the week after half term. Many thanks. POPE FRANCIS THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK Dear Parents, have great patience and forgive from the depths of your heart. COLLECTIVE WORSHIP This week the focus for worship has been ‘Pentecost’. We have listened to Scripture, Acts 2:1-4 which focusses upon the events of Pentecost and why we celebrate this special day. Before the events of the first Pentecost, which came a few weeks after Jesus’ death and resurrection, the disciples felt lost and alone. The coming of the Holy Spirit gave them the confidence and enthusiasm to begin to spread the word of God. Therefore, Pentecost is the day on which the church was started; the Church’s birthday if you like! A LOST BLACK PEN DRIVE HAS BEEN FOUND IN SCHOOL. IF YOU THINK IT MAY BE YOURS PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL OFFICE. MASS TIMES SATURDAY SUNDAY MASS TIMES SUNDAY OUR LADY OF LOURDES 5.30 p.m. 11.00 a.m. ST TERESA’S ST.
