Staff changes for January 2016
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Mrs Jackie Broughton and Mrs Bronwen Perowne will be leaving the staff team at the
end of this term. Both members have made an exceptional contribution to school life over the many years they have worked here – we are
going to miss them greatly. Thank you both for your dedication to this school and I am sure that you all as parents will join me in wishing
them the best for the future.
Theatre productions! Yippee!
We are thrilled to announce that we have booked a travelling theatre production of ‘Cinderella’ for the whole school on Thursday 10th
December. We will not be charging for this event but using the superb donation from the Burnham Craft Fair to subsidise this.
As a whole school, we shall be visiting Kings Lynn Corn Exchange on 16th March to watch ‘Joseph’. We also will not be charging for
this event but FOBS and the school will pay for all the pupils to attend. As you can tell, we are all very excited about these opportunities
and I’m sure that the children and staff will enjoy them!
Academy status
As many of you will be aware from the media, the Department for Education is encouraging all schools, especially those in Norfolk, to
become academies in the near future. Our Federated Governing Body has been discussing this recently and looking at the options
available to the schools within our Federation. We will be carrying out a formal consultation with all parents and the wider community to
seek your opinions on this in due course and a decision will then be made by the Governing Body at the end of the consultation period.
SEND drop-in session 9th December
We are always striving to give parents and carers many opportunities to work with us as a school and support your children. We would like
to invite you to a drop-in session for all parents/carers of children with specific needs on 9 th December between 9.00 and 11.00 am. There
is no need to book an appointment; it is purely a designated time slot when Mrs Major will be available to meet with you. We hope that this
will be useful for you.
Christmas Carol Service – Burnham Thorpe – Tuesday 22nd December @6pm
We would love to invite you and your families to attend this local Christmas Carol Service. Some children will be involved in the service
and it’ll be a great event in the lead up to Christmas.
Wow! What amazing Christmas cards…
Thank you to all the FOBS ladies who came into school and supported the children making the Christmas cards. I’m sure you’ll agree the
quality and production is excellent and there will be many happy faces as families and friends open these delightful cards. The whole
scheme has raised another £161.50 which will go into the outdoor learning provision fund. FOBS are looking at buying more outdoor
tables and pieces of equipment for the field after Christmas. Thank you in particular to Hannah Moore for the time she spent sorting out
the hundreds of packs ordered!
Ordering school lunches – lateness to school
Please can I remind all children and parents that if you are late to school, you must report to the office and if necessary, order a school
lunch. All children are expected to be at school by 8.50am, so then this problem doesn’t arise. Please can all families make every effort to
make sure children are in school by this time, thank you.
Bus behaviour
We have a good relationship with Peelings Coaches and there is communication between the school and company every day. Children
are expected to behave safely and sensibly at all times on the bus. As a school, we do not have any legal responsibility for the children
after 3.10pm but I have asked Mrs Collins to travel on the bus 3 times per week to monitor behaviour. I would like to remind all children
and parents, that if children do not behave safely on the bus, Peelings have every right to refuse entry onto the bus. We clearly would not
want to get to this position, but if children continue to move out of their seats or go under seats, this action will be taken. As a school, we
have reminded all children of expectations on the bus and I would appreciate all parents doing the same and reinforcing this message at
home. Thank you.
