Description of Activity
Students will research president Barack Obama and make a glog using
glogster with the information from their research.

Learning objectives
 Students will use several websites to research information about
President Barack Obama.
 Discuss as a class, duties of president of United States.
 Determine what makes Obama different than other Presidents.
It will be done as a class, in small groups, and individually.
 Objective will be assessed by teacher rubric.

Materials required
25 PCs with headphones, internet access,classroom smart board, kw l
sheet, paper and pencils
Approximate number of class periods and length
The project will take about 5 class periods at 45 minutes each.
Classroom management strategies:
This will be for the individual, small groups, and the whole class. The
activity will take place in the classroom, computer lab and during down
time on the six classroom computers.
Warm up
In previous lessons students learned about the different branches of
government.
The lesson will begin with a class discussion about the position of the
United States presidency.
The class will brainstorm as a whole about what they know about current
President: Barack Obama.
Activities and Procedures
Lesson 1: Each student will fill out KWL sheet.

Students will break up in groups of four and brainstorm on questions they
can from from their KWL. (about 15 minutes)
Groups will share questions with class, teacher will type questions onto
class smart board, each student must pick 7 questions to research from the
board and develop 3 of their own.
Lesson 2: Students visit computer lab to begin their research. Using the
following websites to get started on.

Lesson 3: Wrap up research and introduce students to glogs on
glogster.com
Students will be given a tutorial on how to create a glog.
Student will have the rest of the class period to check out glogster.com on
their own.
Lesson 4: Students will have whole period to create glog using researched
information.
Lesson 5: Students will begin to present their glogs on the classroom smart
board

Back-up plan: (if the technology fails!)
If technology fails we will go to the school library and take out all the books on
President Obama and do report by hand.
Branching out
For the students below average I would send their assignment to the
learning support teacher so that he or she could slow the lesson down and
when time allowed I would work with those students more closely.
For the advanced students I would let them work at their own pace and
allow them to assist others if they are finished early.
