Dear Salutation name:
The following are the requirements to be an approved supplier to GE – Aviation. These requirements
apply to both suppliers receiving direct purchase orders and to those performing special processes on
Source Substantiated hardware for those direct suppliers.
All suppliers must have an approved quality system. The type of product or service being supplied
determines the level of approval. Clarification may be obtained from the Aviation Sourcing contact.
Manufacturer – A supplier that makes complete parts or assembles parts into sub-assemblies,
including castings and forgings. Requires 9100 quality system approval from an accredited
Certification/ Registration Body, CRB.
Processor – A supplier that performs operations or processes on hardware owned by other
companies. Requires 9100 quality system approval from an accredited Certification/ Registration
Body, CRB, or AC7004 from Nadcap or GE - Aviation.
Materials Supplier – A supplier that only supplies materials used in the manufacture of
components; weld wire, braze material, chemicals, paint, etc. Requires 9100 or ISO 9001:2000
quality system approval from an accredited Certification/ Registration Body, CRB.
Distributor – A supplier that acquires material and parts from other suppliers for delivery to
Aviation or other customers. Requires 9100 or 9120 quality system approval from an accredited
Certification/Registration Body, CRB or AS 7103/7104 from Nadcap.
Ground Support Supplier – A supplier that only supplies tooling, test equipment, process
equipment, and repair tools required for the development, production, and maintenance of GE –
Aviation products. Requires ISO 9001:2000 quality system approval from an accredited CRB.
Nadcap approval will be available to Aviation directly. Copies of all other CRB documentation, including
certification, all findings after closure by CRB, and the final audit report must be sent to GE – Aviation. The
documents must be E:Mailed to AS9100DATA@ae.ge.com.
GE – Aviation has designated a number of processes as Special Processes. A list of these processes will be
provided by the Sourcing contact. The supplier reviews this list for any processes that will be performed
on Aviation hardware. For those processes highlighted as requiring Nadcap approval, the supplier must
obtain such approval through PRI. This approval will be directly available to Aviation.
General Electric Company
Once the general quality system requirements and any Nadcap-approved special process requirements
have been met, compliance with GE – Aviation’s unique quality system requirements must be established.
These requirements are contained in Sourcing Specifications S-1000, S-1001, and S-1002. These
specifications are available from the Aviation Sourcing contact. An Aviation auditor will schedule and
conduct the audit of this compliance. During this time, Aviation will also arrange to audit the special
processes that Nadcap has approved and those that Nadcap does not cover.
With the general quality system approved, the S-series of requirements and any special processes
approved, the supplier may be added to the GE – Aviation list of approved suppliers.
All new direct suppliers must complete new supplier training. This course is offered throughout the year.
To register for this training, contact Debi Diehl, (513) 243-0345 or debi.diehl@ge.com. This training is
required within twelve months of being added to the approved supplier list.
