Position Description: SENIOR COACH (Education & Development)– ICC GCA Reports to: ICC GCA Head Coach Applications close: May 15th 2008 Commencement date: September 1st 2008 BACKGROUND: The ICC Global Cricket Academy is an exciting strategic partnership between the ICC and Dubai Sports City and will open its doors in 2009. It has the mission of being the acknowledged centre of excellence for world cricket. Located within Dubai Sports City, it will provide a unique environment for coaching, development, and training, with outstanding world–class facilities and expertise. The GCA will be an outstanding international facility to further develop players of all abilities and ages, coaches, administrators, umpires and curators. Position Purpose: The ICC Global Cricket Academy Senior Coach (Education and Development) will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing all Coach Education and local Junior Development Programs delivered at, or through, the GCA. He/She will have high level coaching qualifications and have vast experience in designing and delivering cricket education and junior development activities. He/She will ideally have elite coaching experience and assist during elite sessions. He/She will work with the ICC Umpire and Referee Manager to assist with umpire education activities, and the Head Curator to assist with curator education activities. . This outstanding opportunity exists for the successful candidate to help establish a strategic vision for the program that is keeping in line with the overall vision and mission for the ICC GCA. The Senior Coach will work closely under the Head Coach and Director of Coaching Rod Marsh. He/she will have 3 -10 Full-Time and Part-Time Junior Development Coaches to train and manage. The incumbent will possess the ability to work under pressure & outside of regular office hours when required i.e. events, training camps, evening and weekend coaching sessions etc Page 1 of 2 Position Skills, Experience and Attributes: He/she should have the Cricket Coaching Qualifications of Level 3 (Australia / NZ / South Africa) or ECB Level 4 (or equivalent) Demonstrated relevant coaching experience essential, particularly Development level Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, manage and evaluate programs for Cricket Development Relevant Tertiary and Workplace Training and Assessor qualifications desirable Demonstrated experience planning, managing, and delivering Cricket Coaching Education Courses Coaching Experience at Elite level desirable Must be adaptive and able to work as part of a dynamic team in a start-up business environment and also be able to work independently without supervision. He/She must display extremely high standards of customer service and help create a unique and special “cricket experience” for all visitors, teams and guests of the GCA. Ability to work in a multi-cultural international environment He/She should be computer literate. Efficient in use of MS Office / Outlook / Excel. Experience using Cricket Coaching Technology and IT an advantage Sound personnel, financial and administration skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience in organising and managing a wide range of people Strong work ethic, efficiency, organizational, interpersonal skills, and customer service are vital to the success of the role.
