TOPIC: DOFFING SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS LEVEL OF INSTRUCTION: PSYCHOMOTOR OBJECTIVES: 2-4.6 Demonstrate donning and doffing of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus while wearing full protective equipment. 2-4.6.2. Doffs "30-60" minute pressure/demand type Self Contained Breathing Apparatus according to manufacturer's recommendations or as illustrated in IFSTA Essentials. (3-3.1b) MATERIALS NEEDED: SCBA REFERENCES: IFSTA Essentials, 4th Edition, pages 109-121. PREPARATION (Step #1): I. Doffing Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus A. FF 2 (MOD A) With Harness-Mounted Regulator 2-4.6.2 p. 104 1. Closes the mainline valve 2. If the unit has a donning switch, makes sure that it is in the donning mode 3. Disconnects the low-pressure hose from the regulator 4. Takes off the helmet or loosens it and pushes it and the hood back off the head 5. Loosens the facepiece harness strap buckles 6. Takes off the facepiece and extends the harness straps fully 7. Unbuckles the waist belt and fully extends the adjustment 8. Disconnects the chest buckle if the unit has a chest strap 9. Leans forward 10. Releases the shoulder strap buckles and holds them open while fully extending the straps 11. Grasps the shoulder straps firmly with the respective hands and slips off the shoulder strap from the shoulder opposite the regulator, and removes the arm from the shoulder strap 12. Grasps the regulator with the free hand and allows the other strap to slide off the shoulder 13. Lowers the SCBA to the ground making sure they do not drop the regulator or allow it to strike anything 14. Closes the cylinder valve 15. Relieves the excess pressure from the regulator following manufacturers recommendations 1 USE MANUFACTURER’S RECOMMENDATIONS 02/16/16 DOFFING SELF-CONTIANED BREATHING APPARATUS Page 2 of 2 PRESENTATION (STEP 2) B.
