Regulator cleaning - Audubon Nature Institute

advertisement
Regulators should be disinfected in the following manner:
1. At the conclusion of the dive, dry the dust cap with a towel or cloth and secure it properly on
the first stage. Blowing the dust cap off with air from the SCUBA cylinder is discouraged as it can
blow water in the first stage.
2. Thoroughly rinse the entire regulator with fresh water. Press the purge button a few times
while rinsing to get any salt out of the inside of the regulator. Do not leave first stages
submerged for a prolonged period of time. Dust caps are not water tight.
3. Submerge the second stage of the regulator in a mild bleach solution (10 ml household bleach to
3 gallons of tap water) for 10 minutes.
4. Remove and rinse the second stage thoroughly with fresh water.
5. Hang regulator in fill room to dry.
Listerine to disinfect regulator mouthpieces should only be used prior to a dive.
