Calendar of Branch Events The Six Subsidiary Exercises A discussion on the meditative exercises by Rudolf Steiner facilitated by Julia Polter is to be held on Tuesday, September 11th, 7:30 pm, at The Chrysalis House. On Joan of Arc A talk by Brigitta Witteveen to be held at The Chrysalis House on Friday, September 21st, beginning at 7:30 pm. Brigitta will share her experiences on a tour of Orleans, Paris, Chartres, and Rheims as she explores the life of Joan of Arc. The talk, with biographical notes and pictures, is to include indications given by Rudolf Steiner. Michaelmas Festival The Festival is to be held at The Chrysalis House on Saturday, September 29th, beginning at 6 pm with a pot-luck supper. At 7:30 pm there will be a formal presentation by Claus Otto Scharmer with a view to deepening our understanding of Michaelmas in the light of Anthroposophy. The evening will continue with our warm circle of sharing, where all are encouraged to offer music, poetry, and special insights related to the festival. Tracing the Streams of the Knights Templars A talk by Andrew Linnell to be held at the Waldorf High School of Massachusetts Bay on Wednesday, October 10th, beginning at 7:30 pm. Andrew will describe the Templars’ humble beginnings as protectors of religious pilgrims, their rise to prominence in medieval society, and their downfall at the hands of the Inquisitors. Andrew will also explore the Templars’ secrets along with their impact on society then and now. Emily Dickinson In Her Own Words A talk by Gertrude Reif Hughes to be held at the Waldorf High School of Massachusetts Bay on Wednesday, November 7th, beginning at 7:30 pm. Did Emily Dickinson think of herself as the belle of her beloved hometown, Amherst? No. Never. True, she did say “I see New Englandly”, but she focused her poems on death, nature, consciousness, and poetry itself. Bring along your copy of her poems, if you have one. Sharing Our Life – the Living and the Dead A talk by The Reverend Arie Boogert, Priest of the Christian Community, to be held at The Chrysalis House on Wednesday, November 28th, beginning at 7:30 pm. Arie brings his remarkably rich life experience of living in Indonesia, the Netherlands, Australia, and the United States to his work and writings. The latter include books on Death and Dying and on Life after Death. Advent Festival An Advent Festival is be held at The Chrysalis House on Saturday, December 15th, beginning at 6 pm with a pot-luck supper. At 7:30 pm there will be a formal presentation by Ben Gregg with a view to deepening our understanding of Advent in the light of Anthroposophy. The First Class of the School of Spiritual Science for members of the First Class is held monthly at The Chrysalis House. The lessons this fall, all of which start at 9:30 am., are the Recapitulation Lessons, with the first on September 15th, the second on October 20th, the third on November 24th, and the fourth on December 15th.
