PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release PATRIOTIC FLAIR ENHANCES GREENWAY PLAZA ENVIRONMENTAL COLLECTION DAY April 19th E-Cycle event collects cell phones for soldiers HOUSTON (April 18, 2012) – The Greenway Plaza E-Cycle collection event on Thursday, April 19 adds a patriotic twist to this year’s environmental cause. A special collection of cell phones will be held during the semi-annual environmental waste collection day sponsored by Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC to assist the charity, Cell Phones for Soldiers. Cell Phones for Soldiers provides deployed and returning U.S. military troops cost-free communication with families. Since 2004, the program has collected more than 8.3 million cell phones, raised more than $7 million and provided more than 114 million minutes of free talk time. The environmental collection day and tribute to military are traditions of Greenway Plaza and Crescent Real Estate. Crescent Real Estate, which owns and manages the 10-office-building campus at Greenway Plaza, has provided customers and neighborhood residents a convenient, environmentally responsible way to recycle home and office electronic waste for the past three years. More than 150,000 pounds of electronic waste collected from customers and area residents has been recycled and diverted from landfills. On April 20, 2010, Crescent Real Estate dedicated a Wall of Heroes in the public food court of 3 Greenway Plaza to recognize contributions and sacrifices of veteran and active military members. Crescent customers who work in the 10 Greenway Plaza buildings submitted photographs of family members who served in the military. At its inception, the Wall of Heroes featured 170 military photographs. Crescent now displays 255 photographs of active and veteran military members on the Wall of Heroes which takes up two walls in the food court area. Volunteers will collect electronic equipment at stations set up in the drop off lanes at 5 Greenway Plaza April 19 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. The 5 Greenway Plaza drop off lanes can be accessed from Buffalo Speedway or the Southwest Freeway feeder road south of Buffalo Speedway.
