RS Farm Management sold 39 young bulls with Angus £318 (124p),
Limousin £288 (116p) and Friesian £180 (93p) and £148 (100p).
Mr Robertson sold suckled Limousin steers to £380 (125p). Bob Davis sold
weaned off Hereford to £270 (111p) with his stronger Hereford steers £538
(121p).

Overall Average £113 . Bull Calf £228, Heifer Calf £152
D & M Manners sold Charolais x steers to £608 (129p) with his heifers £568
(112p).
A much improved entry compared to recent weeks however more could
have been easily sold.
David Stafford sold Simmental heifers to £560 (123p) with his Angus heifers
£460 (107p).
Friesians: 12 sold to top at £45 for K J & C Y Gough. Best £35+,
mediums to rear at £21-£30, third quality and plainer types dear in
comparison at £15-£18. Again no calves going to kill.
M Righton had Charolais steers to £600 (128p) with his Simmental £602
(119p).
Native Breeds: 11 Hereford bulls topped at £132 for P D Birchall and
£131 for A R & M Highman & Sons. Best today £100+ mediums £80 £98, third quality and smaller bull calves £38 - £48. One Angus calf to
£110.
1 Hereford heifer at £80 for S & R Russell, 3 rd quality and smaller sorts
£10 - £20.
Continentals: Topped at £228 for Belgian Blue from R J D Taylor, £216
and £202 for weaned (2 month) bulls from D F Cowley, best £175+.
Charolais topped at £187 for R A Williams & Son. Smart calves again
forward from B J & D Reeves who sold Limousin to £186, £179 and
£174 and Simmentals at £171 and £162. All best Continental bulls
£170+, mediums £150 - £170.
George Smith sold Simmental x steers to £615 (119p) and Simmental x
heifers £520 (105p).
David Smiths Simmental x steers made £470 (122p). F G Reade sold
Limousin cross heifers to £662 (116p) and Belgian Blue £632 (115p).
Gordon Robertson sold Friesian steers to £655 (91p) and £502 (97p) with his
Limousin heifer £528 (106p). Greg & Roger Dancer sold Limousin heifers to
£530 (106p) and their Limousin steers £585 (113p) an overage Friesian steer
made £500 (78p).
Again George Kershaw had quality Blonde x steers forward selling to £640
(Dec 05) (126p) and blonde heifers (Mar 06) £518 (113p).
Goodmans Farm sold Charolais steers to £690 (125p) and Limousin heifers
£380 (109p) and £352 (128p) and Limousin steers £335 (140p).
Fewer heifers about today, demand strong Simmentals sold to £152 and
£145 for B J & D Reeves. Limousin to £113 for D F Cowley.
Betty Chiswell topped the Simmental trade with two steers (Mar 05) £750
(110p).
Weaned: A super run of Angus and Hereford heifers from A D & C D
Stevens saw Herefords top at £162 with Angus at £160. Devon x Angus
sold well at £160. Three Hereford bull calves (weaned) from R G
Davies, Witcombe sold well at £170 per head.
P Smith had 11 cattle forward selling his Belgian blue steers to £680 (108p)
for steers £550 (86p). T Breakspear sold Belgian Blue heifers to £592
(112p), Limousin heifers £548 (107p) Simmental £622 (103p), Friesian steers
£530 (93p).
IMPORTANT – CALVES
Vendors please remember that next weeks sale is the last opportunity to
sell weaned calves (42 days plus) prior to the new movement testing
regulations which is enforced with effect from 1 st March 2007.
With effect from 1st April 2007 no calves can be sold on a temporary
passport. Entries of weaned calves needed and in strong demand.
369 STORE CATTLE/WEANED CALVES
11.30 am - Auctioneer: Arthur White
A most wonderful entry of young and strong cattle forward sold to a
superb trade with buyers travelling many miles to Cirencester, knowing
this market to be the home of quality strong stores.
Vendors were supporting the market from as far afield as Bristol,
Hungerford, Reading, Gloucester, Chipping Norton and Moreton in
Marsh and from many farms in between – all selling to complete
clearance.
3 Cows & Calves – Betty Chiswell’s Belgian Blue x heifers (04) and her
Limousin x heifer calf (June 06) made £665. Two in-calf Beef Shorthorn
cows (02) made £345 and £320.
Hazell & Jefferies had 13 Continental steers forward selling Charolais x to
£728 (122p) Simmental £690 (112p) and Belgian blue £772 (119p), Angus
£708 (127p).
Overage Hereford steers made £710 (86p) from John Ford.
Tom Shepherd sold Simmental cross steers to £635 (123p) with his blonde
heifers £532 (105p).
Michael Berry again had strong steers in market selling to £700 (107p) for
Limousin Steers £670 (116p) for Belgian blue with Belgian Blue heifers £670
(112p).
V Cook sold British White steers £510 (146p), P Breakspear Angus heifer
£372 (107p) and Mike Weaver Angus steers £660 (124p).
James King had blonde steers forward topping at £630 (117p) and heifers
£618 (111p). Peter Gantlett sold Simmental steers to £458 (116p) and heifers
£338 (110p) and Hereford steers £442 (130p), John Davys sold Simmental
steers to £405 (129p), J Hicks Simmental x heifers £530 (100p).

What a difference a week makes with trade very difficult following the
dropping trade all week nationally. The handyweight hoggs traded
between 105 – 108p/kg topping at 108.1p/kg £40.00 for 37kg from Mr P
Meek. Medium weight hoggs traded generally between 100 – 104p/kg &
heavier hoggs 95 – 100p/kg topping at £51.20 for 51kg from M/s D & A

A tremendous trade for all cows on offer with numbers shorter nationally,
more demand for those on offer. Fit well meated cows particularly well sold.
Friesian cows (49 on offer) topped at 87p pkg averaging 66p throughout.
Steers topped at 92p, heifers at 88p and 1 bull at 60p. Best cows on offer
today 74p plus topping at 89p. Medium types 62-70p with only a few plain
cows on offer again a good trade at 30-40p. 1 Angus steer made 92p for
Micheal Green, heifers topped at 88p for Mrs D Bailey. More needed to
meet demand.
6TH MARCH – Pedigree Cows & Calves
7 Pedigree Limousin Cows with Calves at Foot/In-calf (3 in-calf heifers, 2
maiden heifers).

Trade remains firm on all types with the best Continental & Suffolk ewes
sold between £45 - £50 topping at £54. Mules sold to £36.80.

A good entry of store hoggets sold to a firm trade with the stronger sorts
£38 - £40 topping at £52.80 from M/s R & J Drew. Medium hoggs
seemed well sold trading between £32 - £36. Smaller lambs sold between
£23 - £27. Overall average £34.18. 9 Ewes with 13 lambs sold to £80
from Mr D Holpin.

Overall Average – Steers 100.4 pkg, Heifers 95.0 pkg
A shorter entry with very few best cattle forward. Trade was strong on all
types with the very best over 120p/kg topping at 133.5p/kg for Limousin
Bulls from Mr M Potter. The commercial cattle sold between 108 –
115p/kg with the lesser sorts 90 – 105p/kg. The native breeds traded
generally between 88 – 100p/kg topping at 122.0p/kg for a exceptional
Hereford steer from M/s R Hussey & Son.

TB RESTRICTED HOLDINGS
We are pleased to announce that as from 1st March 2007 we are able
to sell cattle / cows from TB restricted farms every week. These cattle
cannot be TB reactors or inconclusive reactors but only cattle / cows
from farms under restriction. These cattle / cows can be sold for
slaughter only through our RED section and cannot go home or for
further fattening. Please ensure tags and paperwork are correct before
consigning to market as they cannot return once in the RED section.
These cattle must be kept separate from the other cattle in the market
NAMED SIRES
To obtain maximise prices on your cattle, please supply details of Pedigree
Sires in full, for Hereford and Angus cattle, just ear tag numbers or “named
sire” is insufficient and will not be announced as having a sire name.

RESULTS
Voyce Pullin conducted their first machinery sale in the livestock market and
saw a tremendous entry of over 600 lots of good quality tractors, machinery,
