Green Roof Blocks used to ballast single ply roof membrane. B. Green Roof Blocks placed over adhered roofing systems. 1.05 Submittals A. Submit manufacturer's installation specifications. B. Submit copy of Green Roof Blocks warranty. C. Submit performance testing. 1.06 Quality Assurance A. High grade aluminum with smooth corners and edges with no sharp or irregular surfaces that may cause injury or damage roofing. B. Minimal growth medium mineral content finer than ¼ inch in diameter. C. Rubber pad material to secured to Green Roof Block. D. Deliver materials in good condition free from shipping damage and ready for installation. B. Remove wrapping materials from palletized Green Roof Blocks immediately upon arrival to jobsite. Install materials on roof top within 48 hours of job site delivery. Thoroughly irrigate newly installed Green Roof Blocks and follow manufacturer’s printed Maintenance Guidelines. C. Handle materials to prevent damage. D. Do not exceed the structural capacity of deck if placing Green Roof Blocks on the roof. E. Protect membrane and installed areas of Green Roof Blocks from damage when transporting pallets of Green Roof Blocks or other material. Place ¾ inch plywood sheets in traffic path or use carts with pneumatic tires. 1.08 Warranty A. Plants carry a one year limited warranty against disease and defect. B. Metal terminations used to retain or secure Green Roof Blocks shall be manufactured by Saint Louis Metalworks Company or an approved equal. D. Comply with manufacturer's instructions for preparation of substrate to receive membrane roofing system. Install roof membrane, flashings and insulation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B. If required by membrane manufacturer or if heavy foot traffic is anticipated install a slip sheet as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. 3.02 Green Roof Blocks System Designs A. Green Roof Blocks roof greening system used to ballast roofing system 1. Install roof ballast pavers at roof edges, around mechanical equipment, and along access path ways. 2. Install protective covering at all vertical flashings consisting of a sacrificial layer of roofing membrane, architecturally fabricated sheet metal, or a reflective roof coating. 3. Install Green Roof Blocks in straight bond using roof ballast pavers to fill in areas not covered with Green Roof Blocks. 4. Maintain 1/2 inch minimum and 1 inch maximum distance between adjacent Green Roof Blocks. 5. Install optional irrigation system. 6. Use a slip sheet between the pavers and the roof membrane at designated areas of foot traffic and at mechanical units. 7. At ridges or valleys, cut to fit roof ballast pavers or specify custom manufactured Green Roof Blocks to fit irregular shaped areas. OR B. Green Roof Blocks roof greening system resting on adhered or partially attached roofing systems 1. Install roof ballast pavers or membrane manufacturer’s walkway material at roof edges, around mechanical equipment, and along access pathways not covered by Green Roof Blocks. 2. Install protective covering at all vertical flashings consisting of a sacrificial layer of roofing membrane, architecturally fabricated sheet metal, or a reflective roof coating. 3. Install Green Roof Blocks in straight bond using roof ballast pavers to fill in areas not covered with Green Roof Blocks, or coat areas not covered by Green Roof Blocks with reflective roof coating. 4. Maintain 1/2 inch minimum and 1 inch maximum distance between adjacent Green Roof Blocks. 5.
