Ancient Egypt Webquest Tasks During your quest, you will complete a travel log of your experiences. Your travel log should include the following items: Illustrations of the Ancient Egyptian mummification process and your project from that mission. Determine which Ancient Egyptian tomb is the burial place of king Tut. A Ancient Egyptian cartouche with your name written in Egyptian hieroglyphics. Mission 1 It is time to begin our search for King Tut’s tomb. You must learn more about mummies. When King Tut died, his body was made into a mummy. You must develop the expertise to be able to search any mummy that you come across to look for clues and to determine if it is King Tut. Questions Were ancient Egyptian successful mummy-maker? Why did the Ancient Egyptian make mummies? What process did the Ancient Egyptian use to make mummies? Have their mummies performed the job that they were created for? Mission Instructions Your mission is to learn as much as you can about mummies. We have pulled some strings to get you on a crew that is making several of the Pharaoh’s royal pets into mummies. Study carefully and learn from this mummification process because it it the same process the Ancient Egyptians used to mummify Pharaohs like King Tut. ----Top Secret Document--Do you want to live forever in eternal happiness? You know, eat the best food, have the perfect weather, have the perfect friends, and have a ton of fun. According to the Ancient Egyptians, you only need to do a few things. 1) Be a Pharoah (king.) 2) When you die, get mummified. 3) Be buried in a pyramid. (“House of Eternal Life”0 4) have servants take care of your mummy, forever. Easy enough! We have heard some scary stories about mummies. You know “ The Mummy fights Frankenstein” or the “Curse of King Tut.” In reality, ancient Egyptians buried their dead kings, queens, and even some pets this way. You see, mummies aren’t that scary when you look at it that way. In fact, we can learn a lot about the life of the Ancient Egyptians by studying mummies and pyramids or tombs that they are buried in. Revist the Question Mission 2 We are really making progress in our search for King Tut’s tomb. Now it is time to find out about Ancient Egyptian tombs. Could one of the tombs be the secret burial place of King Tut? It will be your mission to visit these Ancient Egyptian tombs and determine which one is the burial place of King Tut!!! Good Luck! Mission 3 We are on the verge of sending your team in to locate King Tut’s Burial Mask and retrieve the message that will save us all. We believe that the message on the inside of the mask will be written in Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. It is therefore vital to our success that you learn about Hieroglyphs so that you will be able to decode the important message.
