Paraclete Christian Network International Serving and Equipping Charity No:1019767 Address: 1-5, Roman Crescent, Southwick West Sussex BN424TY Tel no: 01903522279 Email: paracleteonline@gmail.com Website: www.paraclete.org.uk Prayer/Update Sheet Summer 2015 Dear Friends and Supporters, Warm greeting to you all. It is some time now since our last prayer update sheet. Strangely it sees that in all the countries we are working in, we are having major dealings with the various banking systems. This means a lot of extra administrative work and more than a little hassle! On the home front, PCNI is changing bank. This is largely because we have welcomed a new Treasurer, Jane Seals, from Guildford, Surrey. Jane is an old friend and was actually a founder member of the original charity we set up which eventually became PCNI. She is widely experienced in administration, currently serving as administrator of Westborough URC and heading up their CAP debt counselling service. She has known of the work of PCNI for many years, particularly the work in Zimbabwe, which she has visited several times. Jane has requested a change of bank to help her in her new work and the Trustees were happy to agree with this. Adrian Ball stands down as treasurer after 17 years in the role and we are greatly indebted to him for his faithful work over all these years. Those who are regular givers to PCNI will receive a letter from him asking you to inform your respective banks of this change. We thank you for your co-operation in this matter and trust you will feel able to continue your valued contribution to the work on the Lord through PCNI. The English Church, Benidorm, Spain The work of the English Church, now under the leadership of Pastor Alan Robertson continues to prosper amidst all the comings and goings of folk in the Benidorm area. Alan returned to pastoral charge in September 2014 following a period of recuperation after the passing of his wife, Marion. In these last 9 months, Alan has been faithfully ministering on the Costa Blanca and has been able to start up some new ventures with the local members. These include a Sunday School, a men’s group and regular street outreach with singing, testimony and leaflet distribution outside the indoor market. This has borne fruit with people attending meetings and of the 7 baptisms during these months, one man was contacted at an open air event. The children’s and men’s work is still in its early stages with small numbers so please pray it will grow and develop in effectiveness. Our relationships with the Scandinavians, with whom we share the building, continues to prosper. Throughout the year we have had special celebrations at Christmas with outreach in the Marina hotel and at Easter and again have had a visit from 19 students from Mattersey College, UK, half of whom were from Zimbabwe! Alan has been supported well by the local resident congregation as well as the regular short term visitors who come back every year. He will be home in the UK for 7 weeks returning early September. During this time, visiting ministers will be overseeing the ministry. Please pray for Alan, the various ministries of the church and particularly Alan and the PCNI Trustees as they deal with the bank changes required by Spanish law. These have to be completed by early September so please pray all will get done on time without any hold ups. Kuwadzana Christian Training Centre, Harare, Zimbabwe Zimbabwe is still a county in great need at all levels but it rarely makes the headlines these days with so many other trouble spots in the world. Amidst all the many challenges of life there, our ministry at the training centre continues to prosper albeit at a slower rate than we would like. In September 2014, a team of 11 mainly from Southwick Christian Community Church did a 10 day mission trip there and had a wonderful time of ministry and fellowship. Then a team of 6 went out in January 2015 for Jonah and Tracey Masaka’s retirement celebrations after 40 years in Presbyterian ministry. Again this was a wonderful occasion full of mixed emotions and a wonderful expression of love and honour from many who had benefitted from Jonah and Tracey’s ministry over many years. Since then Jonah continues to work as director of the training centre dealing with the many practical and spiritual challenges involved in the work there. Please pray for continued health, strength, inspiration and wisdom in all things. Tracey heads up the newly reformed Superkids preschool which is now prospering after several initial challenges. Paraclete College Secondary School is now developing to a high standard. We have seen the addition of a 6th form and a new classroom. The major challenge is for families to pay the children’s school fees (approx £350 per year), with several children being orphans and others having no income into the family unit. Praise God, we now have 10 people in the UK sponsoring the most needy and most promising students to get an education which is vital for their futures. We have also been able to create a twinning link with a Christian school, the Kings School, in Sussex. The students from the school have all written letters to the Zimbabwean students as the first venture and these have been safely delivered. Please pray that God mightily uses these links for the blessing of the students in both countries. The Bible school is still progressing with new course materials being used and a new classroom having been built but sadly numbers are small, partly due to economic constraints with students not being able to pay to travel. Please pray that the Bible School will rise up and prosper despite the hardships. In the coming year or two we will need to make changes at the Training Centre We are now actively seeking God for a successor to Jonah Masaka as Director when he fully retires – a tall order indeed. Again we are having to make changes to our banking arrangements for legal reasons which needs patience and wisdom. Please pray we have plenty of both of these. The Prayer/Discipleship Centre, Nagaland Praise God that the Discipleship Prayer Centre has been able to expand its sphere of influence with many more people coming for healing ministry. The centre itself has been rebuilt and extended to accommodate this growth and it is wonderful to see this simple centre bring healing and wholeness through Jesus to so many people. Please pray for more material provision to complete the building and that the windows of heaven will be open over this place. We thank you for your on-going interest and support for these ventures in Spain, Zimbabwe and Nagaland. In January 2016, we are planning a PCNI mission trip to Zimbabwe. Details are on our website. Please express your interest there and contact us if you want more details. Any churches wanting more firsthand information or a visit to speak about our work, please be in contact. Please pray that we will stay faithful to the vision of ministry God has given us, not become weary in well doing and that we will see the hand of God mightily at work in our midst. Many blessings to you all. Revd Lynda Hulcoop, Director Paraclete Christian Network International.
