The Center for Outdoor Leadership is located in the Knapp Health and Fitness Center. The
Center for Outdoor Leadership provides oversight of a comprehensive outdoor experiential
program. Utilizing the natural setting around Pfeiffer and our central location to a variety of
outdoor and wilderness experiences, the Center for Outdoor Leadership provides trips, programs,
clinics and excursions for the student body. These range from white water rafting, rock
climbing, hiking, tree climbing, and much more. In addition, the Center for Outdoor Leadership
provides courses through the Leadership Education Minor to study and minor in Outdoor
Leadership to compliment a variety of majors here at Pfeiffer. Finally, we offer employment
opportunities through facilitation on the High and Low Challenge Course and Climbing / Rappel
tower at the Beth Haltiwanger Retreat Center through this office.

Campus Recreation offers great ways to escape from the daily stress of class, work, and personal
struggles. The office of Campus Recreation looks to create opportunities for competition and
camaraderie. Each semester offers a different line up of events that focus on being active, living
well, and having fun. Most events are run as co-rec play, meaning men and women may
compete on the same team. Campus Recreation offers traditional activities such as 5 on 5
Basketball, Co-Rec Volleyball, Indoor Soccer, and Softball. Some examples of non-traditional
activities offered are The Great Pedometer Challenge, Late Night Ultimate Frisbee, Late Night
Capture the Flag, the Fit Falcon program, Thursday Afternoon Kickball, Yoga, T’ai Chi, JuJitsu, Relaxation Methods and a Self Defense Seminar. Campus Recreation also offers
opportunities for student employment each semester. Visit the Campus Recreation website at:
www.pfeiffer.edu/campusrec for schedules, results, and pictures. Be Fit. Live Well. Just Play.
The Office of Student Activities provides a wide-range of leadership opportunities,
entertainment, social events, and other various activities for all Pfeiffer students, faculty, and
staff. The Pfeiffer Activities Council (PAC) ensures that each Friday night provides exciting
entertainment on campus. Recent programs have included comedians, bands, magicians, game
shows and much more. During the Fall semester PAC co-sponsors Homecoming Week with the
Alumni office. All students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to participate in Homecoming
activities. Each year the students nominate peers to serve on Homecoming Court and elect two
seniors to be crowned as King and Queen. Then, in the Spring semester, PAC hosts a week of
fun, food, and games referred to as AprilFest which includes bands, competitions, and activities
throughout the week.
Student Activities sponsors Pfeiffer University's Relay for Life, an all-night event dedicated to
raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Finally, in order to serve the
diverse interests and needs of our students the Office of Student Activities plays host to studentled clubs. Each of these organizations has a different focus and interest. Check out

Student Ministries and the Village Church
Whatever stage of faith or questioning you may be, you will find companions on the way in a
variety of settings. We are committed to a philosophy and practice of student initiated and peerled ministries. Student Ministries of the Village Church works together in partnership with the
rich array of campus organizations, staff, and faculty to offer opportunities for spiritual growth,
deepening discipleship, community worship, and faithful works of service. All members of our
Pfeiffer community (students, parents, staff, faculty, administration, alumni, friends) are
encouraged to find some place to nurture their souls and deepen their appreciation for other
perspectives and faith traditions.
While the Village Church of Pfeiffer is technically a United
Methodist congregation, it is more concept than institution.
“Church Happens” as we worship, fellowship, serve, play and
grow together. If you have a home church, think of The
Village Church as your church home away from home. You
are always welcome to participate in the many spiritual
growth, service, and worship opportunities of the church. You
may want to actually join the congregation as a covenant
partner, even if you have a membership somewhere else.
Take a look at www.pfeiffer.edu/villagechurch for more information, including a current listing
of fellowship groups, mission projects, Bible studies, and worship experiences!
