Agenda item and discussion points
1. Data system development
 JM demonstrated the online case study
database; further refinement is ongoing
 A data entry module is ready for initial testing
 Data retrieval is via an SQL client (coordination
only) or for download as a comma-delimited file
(all users)
 SK waiting for Euro+Med dataset (Tarik El Atechi
to action) to carry out final matching with
Mansfeld, forestry and ornamental genera
 SK/JM discussed further development of ECWR
data system
 SK/JM suggest that participants provide links to
web sites and/or XML data sources during test
phase for individual case study taxa
 XML case studies to be initiated post-WS5 i.e.
“real life” case studies where data is accessed
via links to other electronic sources rather than
entered to case study database
2. Project assistant(s) contract(s)
 Funds available in budget for 9-12 months
contract for PGR Forum project assistant(s)
 Potential tasks:
a) Investigate percentage of CWR taxa that
have microsatellite markers available (using
an initial sample of 100 genera) (c. 1 week
prior to WS5)
b) Case study data entry (c. 2-3 days ASAP)
c) Infra-generic ranking of CWR genera in E+M
(c. 3 months ASAP)
d) Review of and report on data standards for
taxon uses (c. 1 week by end October 2004)
e) Red Listing (c. 6 months prior to/post - WS2)
 taxa in countries where data is readily
available e.g. The Netherlands, Germany,
Switzerland, Poland
 European endemics occurring in 4 countries
or less
Actions required
 JM to continue refinement of the case study
database in the development domain
 JM to copy current version to test domain
 SK to test DB by entering case study data
from one taxon from the taxon data sheets
already collated
 Remaining TDS data to be entered by project
assistant
 JM to investigate means of importing existing
electronic datasets
 DB to be available for testing by PGR Forum
participants by end July; first phase of testing
by participants until end August
 JM to add hyperlink from data entry module
to the discussion forum for feedback
 JM/SK to report on first test phase at WS5
 SK/JM to import E+M dataset to PGR Forum
database
 JM to liaise with Tarik El Atechi on creation of
XML link to E+M via taxon IDs (in motion by
end June)
 SK to provide final CWR list for tagging in
E+M
 XML case studies to be developed post-WS5
 NM/BFL to arrange project assistant(s)
contract(s)
 SK to oversee project assistant activities
