They mainly live in My Bac village, Tan Trinh commune, Quang Binh district, Ha Giang province (formerly Bac Quang district, now divided into two districts of Bac Quang and Quang Binh). Pa Then women are very famous for weaving skills. Their weaving products use raw materials from the forest and simple looms. Everything is handmade, therefore the productivity is low and the price is high. In recent years, under the influence of the market economy, the mass produced fabric are abundant even in this high mountainous area with low price. As a consequence, the local people tend to use this type of material more often. This makes the traditional weaving redundant and in danger of extinction. Stemming from this fact and the very interest of Pa Then women, the Center for National Cultural Heritage Conservation proposes the activity Conduct research and put forwards initiatives to restore and develop traditional weaving of Pa Then people in My Bac village, Tan Trinh commune, Quang Binh district, Ha Annex 1: Proposal Giang province.
