Program benefits

Battery Recycling - Batteries contain heavy metals such as lead and
cadmium that are very toxic in small quantities. If discarded improperly, the
batteries leak their contents which could end up in local waterways.

Motor Oil Recycling - Experts estimate that 40 percent of oil pollution in
America's waterways is from used oil. Motor oil does not wear out—it just gets
dirty—so recycling it saves a valuable resource.
Appliance Recycling - Washers, dryers, hot water heaters, garbage disposals,
trash compactors, ranges, stoves, air conditioners, heat pumps, refrigerators or
freezers, furnaces, microwave ovens, dehumidifiers and dishwashers will all be
accepted. Some appliances contain CFCs, Freon, Gas, Ammonia, or other types of
refrigerant. OEMA has an employee certified to remove these hazardous
substances. All of these Appliances have the potential to pose health and
environmental problems if not properly recovered
