PRESENTATION OF THE LORD
On this day, the 40th day of Christmastide, we recall
the sacrifice given by Mary and Joseph in the Temple of
Jerusalem for the first-born male in their family, Jesus. He is
recognized by the elders, Simeon and Anna, who give thanks
for seeing Jesus themselves before they die. Simeon tells
Mary that Jesus is destined to be a sign so that the secret
thoughts of many may be laid bare. After this they went
home to Nazareth. Jesus grew up and God’s favor was with
him. What are your secret thoughts and thanks?

PRESENTATION OF THE LORD
Pastor’s Reflection
I am happy to announce that I have appointed Jim McQuaide as our
new Director of Music here for Seton Parish. Jim is not a stranger
to us as he has filled in on an interim basis on numerous occasions
both as a musician and choir director for the past three years. For
more than ten years Jim has served in sixteen Catholic parishes in
Cleveland, Warren and Columbus on a part-time basis serving as a
parish musician and choir director. When Jim was in college at
Otterbein University, he coordinated and provided the music for the
weekly Catholic liturgies there as well. It has been Jim’s dream for
many years to serve as a full time music director and he has proven
in his service here that he is ready for this position. We welcome
Jim and look forward to the many ways that he will enhance our
worship at our parish in the years to come. The liturgy is the heart
and soul of our life together. I am confident that our liturgical life in
the parish will grow and deepen under the leadership of Jim, and I
encourage you to add your voice and talent to the music of the
liturgies of parish under Jim’s direction.

Pope Francis has eloquently stated that we Christians are “to hear
the cy of the poor.” In the past few weeks we have all endured
subzero temperatures. Each year in our community there is a
growth in our community to serve more and more who are homeless
at this time of the year. Last year, the Community Shelter Board
served 16% more adults and 27% more children than the prior year.
To learn more about the working of the Community Shelter Board, I
invite you visit their website, www.daytoendhomelessness.org.
Bishop Campbell has suggested that we take up a second collection
to assist in this most vital need in our community at this time. Next
Sunday, we will have this second collection at all of our Masses.
Thank you for giving this your attention and charity.

RENOVATION NEWS
Recently, members of our parish, parish councils, and committees
have expressed their concern for repairing and renovating parts of
the current church building, in an effort to better serve the parish
community. On the list of projects for our plan, repairing and
renovating the pews, roof, and floors, are listed along with a few
other necessary projects. A Case Statement outlining the complete
projects for the plan will be mailed shortly to each household.

Over the next few weeks there will be two opportunities for
parishioners to provide their thoughts, suggestions and feedback.
Whether it is by accepting and invitation to be interviewed or by
participating in a mail survey, I hope that each of you will take
advantage of the opportunity to share your input. Random interviews of
Seton parishioners will be conducted over a two week period by the
Diocesan Office of Development and Planning. Interviews are strictly
confidential. If you should receive a phone call asking you to
participate in a 30-minute personal interview, I would encourage you to
participate. Every registered household of our parish not participating
in a personal interview will receive a mail survey. Please take a
moment to fill out the questionnaire and return it by the date listed on
the questionnaire. All interviews and mailed surveys with remain
