Seals and seal lions: -Marine birds- come in three main varieties offshore, coastal mainland and Nearshore Offshore birds include the ashy storm-petrel, black footed albatross, common loon, pigeon guillemot, short tailed albatross, and sooty shearwater. (sooty shearwater) Coastal mainland marine birds include belted kingfisher brandt’s cormorant, brown pelican, aspian’s tern, common murre, double-crested cormorant, marbled godwit, marbled murrelet, northern pintail, snowy egret, snowy plover, and surf scoter (brown pelican) Nearshore marine birds inclood the black oystercatcher, assin’s auklet, heermann’s gull, osprey, red phalarope, tufted puffin, and western gull There are many types of fish in the open ocean the two main types are sharks&rays and bony fish White shark Ocean sunfish The most abundant and diverse group are invertibrates The different types are cnidarians, echinoderms, mollusks, arthropods, porifera , and anemones Sunburst anemone the different types of plants and algae in the open ocean are brown red green flowering and phytoplankton Diatom The only type of reptile in this environment is the green sea turtle Source: http://www8.nos.noaa.gov/onms/park/Parks/categories.aspx?refID=5&pID=11 One thing I found interesting about our environment is the wide variety of species that live in it.
