Part 6: Help and Tech Support The following video tutorial is presented by the Distance Learning Department at Middlesex Community College in Middletown CT. Slide 6-2 Middlesex Community College offers students many online and technology services such as On Campus Computers, MyCommNet, Student Self-Service, Blackboard Vista and Library Databases. Often, students will have questions and need assistance in troubleshooting access to these systems using their NetID and Password. Slide 6-3 Online Student Technology Resources are available by going to www.mxcc.commnet.edu/content/stechresources.asp. You may also access these resources by going to the MxCC Homepage at www.mxcc.commnet.edu. Click on Current Students Link and then Click on Student Technology Resources link in the drop-down menu. Slide 6-4 Once you are on the Student Technology Resources web page, click on the MyCommNet Video Instructions for Students link. Slide 6-5 For students taking fully online courses, on-campus orientations are provided to help first time online students get familiar with: The online learning interface, basic online class tools, and tips on how to succeed as an online student. The orientation schedule may be found at: www.mxcc.commnet.edu/Content/Campus_Orientation.asp Slide 6-6 You will find on-campus computers in: Wheaton Hall room 305 – PC lab Snow Hall Room 412 - Mac Lab 1 In the Library in Chapman Hall – PCs, Mac And the Student Lounge WiFi Hotspots are available in the: Student Lounge in Founder’s Hall and the Library Common area in Chapman Hall Meriden Center also has PC Labs in Rooms 404 & 407. Slide 6-7 If you have forgotten your NetID, you may look it up online at https://www.commnet.edu/netid/lookupnetid.asp At this web site, enter your last name, your date of birth, and the last 4-digits of your social security number. Then select the Click Here to Search button to get your NetID. Slide 6-8 If you need to reset your NetID Password, you may first try to reset it online by going to my.commnet.edu Slide 6-9 Once you are at my.commnet.edu, click on the Forgot Your Password? Link. Slide 6-10 Follow the steps to reset your password. You MUST know the answer to you Security Question to use the online NetID password web site. Slide 6-11 If you are not able to reset your NetID password online, or need assistance with your NetID, you may contact IT services, Distance Learning, Records Office or the Meriden Front Desk. The contact information for these offices is posted at www.mxcc.commnet.edu/Content/Resetps.asp Slide 6-12 The Admissions Office will assist you with admissions and registration if you are a new, first-time student. If you have questions about Student Self-Service, the admissions office may also assist you. You may contact the Admissions staff by calling 860-343-5719 or by going to Room 153 in Founders Hall. Slide 6-15 The staff in Distance Learning may answer your questions about Blackboard Vista, MyCommNet, and Student Self-Service.
