Then and Now Report
Your assignment is to create a news report comparing a great invention from the Industrial
Revolution with a great invention from today. You will have several deadlines you must meet for
each step of the project.
Step 1: Choose a partner you can depend on to do their share of the work. (Give your names to
Ms. Scott)

Step 2: Select your invention from then and now (get teacher approval).
a.
Begin to research your inventions using your textbook, google research, library books,
class discussions and other internet sites as they apply. Verify your sources.
i. You must include the following information:
1.
What is the name of the invention.
2.
Find a picture(s) of the invention.
3.
When was it invented?
4.
Where was it invented?
5.
Who invented it?
a. Is that person responsible for any other notable inventions?
6.
What was the purpose of the invention (what does it do or what service does
it provide)?
7.
How did or does that invention change America? Give specific examples.
Step 3: Write up your news report (30 seconds to 1 minute in length for each portion).
Step 4: Rehearse and prepare to record your report.
a.
Check out a camera from Ms. Scott or you may use your own phone or camera and share
the video with Ms. Scott through classroom.google.com.
b. Record your video, edit it, submit it to Ms. Scott through classroom.google.com
Step 5: Present to class.
