PURPOSE OF ROLE: To ensure that the coursework hand-in room is staffed at the published times To accept students coursework in a friendly and professional manner To provide a receipt to students To close boxes of coursework on the deadline day as stated on the headersheet To ensure that the coursework is sent to the correct Department soon after the hand-in deadline date KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Team Specific: It is the responsibility of each member of the coursework hand-in room team to ensure that the coursework hand-in room is open at the published days and at the times specified during the year, so the team must be punctual and reliable. It is also a requirement that the team cover for one another in cases of emergency and at busy hand-in times. Generic: Managing Self It is important that the correct protocol is followed thus ensuring that a fair service is provided for all students using the facility, i.e. not accepting work after the coursework hand-in room is closed. Key to the role is the ability to lone work shifts, although at busy times additional staff are asked to assist, but to appreciate that you are part of a team. Core Requirements: Pinnacle to the role is attention to detail, to ensure that the coursework is delivered to the correct Department (Engineering, Science, NRI or Health) in a timely manner so it enables academic staff to assess the coursework within university set timeframes. Additional Requirement: Key Relationships (internal and external): Students and academic staff from departments within Engineering and Science, NRI and Health based on the Medway campus. Person Specification: Essential: Desirable: Skills Skills Excellent customer service skills, good IT (esp Banner), have a flexible attitude to work, and the ability to work with a team. You must also be assertive and confident when dealing with students as customers, and have excellent attention to detail to ensure that coursework reaches the correct destination. Preferably students will be studying at the university until at least summer 2014 to ensure continuity of service, and excellent team rapport is established. Experience Experience Must have experience working in a similar environment, and be a research postgraduate student from Engineering, Science or NRI. This is to ensure that you are available to work daytime shifts as well as cover for other team members at very short notice if needed. Experience of teamwork as well as lone working is desired. Qualifications Qualifications N/A Must be working towards a research MSc or PhD to ensure that assistants are available to work during examination periods.
