Position Title:
Monday to Wednesday 22.5 hours per week
$18-$20 /hour dependent upon experience
Will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant is a key member of the Finance team responsible for assisting the Controller and Assistant Controller with the processing and maintenance of all accounting records, following established procedures while recommending new approaches
Responsibilities:
Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable and record amounts to appropriate accounts and funds
Reconcile and follow-up on outstanding purchase orders with department heads
Reconcile petty cash account monthly
Reconcile gift card donations and usage
Manage inventory, including purchasing and recording receipt of inventory for all relevant departments
Merchandise the Pet Gear Store
Communicate with vendors regarding short shipments, discrepancies on invoices and returns, discounts, and new product offerings
Provide back-up and assistance to the Shipper/Receiver when required
Manage staff ordering and purchases
Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Experience processing and maintaining accounts payable, accounting experience would be considered an asset
Experience with inventory ordering and receiving, especially with animal/pet products would be considered an asset
Knowledge of computer systems preferably with working knowledge of Blackbaud Financial
Edge & Raisers Edge; RMS Microsoft Dynamics, Pet Point Shelter Management System, and
Microsoft Office.
Able to work in a team environment as well as be self-motivated
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all departments
Positive attitude
Possesses a genuine concern for the welfare of animals
Successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check at their own expense which will be arranged by CHS
