DIVISION: DEPARTMENT: Medical Centers BASIC NATURE OF POSITION: The Residency Clinical Supervisor manages and coordinates the day-to-day administrative functions of the residency clinical program, including the supervision of assigned clinical staff and non-clinical staff. 2. Ex: Ex: Non-Ex: Non-Ex: EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: A. Formal education required: Bachelor’s degree in health or related field or equivalent work experience. Credentialed in one of the following: - Certified Medical Assistant. Must be a graduate from an accredited NCCA Medical Assistant Program - Licensed Practical Nurse - Registered Nurse B. Experience/skills/ability required (number of years and type): Minimum three (3) years clinical experience, with one year of management/supervisory or leadership experience required. Clinical work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Familiarity with managed care and healthcare insurances, Medicaid and Medicare knowledge/experience an asset. Ability to independently solve problems, resolve issues, instruct and/or delegate as necessary in order to provide leadership for the clinical operations of the practice. Understanding of clinical disciplines and issues. Good leadership and organizational skills in order to maximize patient flow and provide customer satisfaction. Ability to accurately document and collect patient data in order to maintain clinical records. Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups. Computer literate, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel. Ability to work with a high level of cultural diversity. Flexibility to work occasionally, as needed, at a health center other than the one permanently assigned. Valid Michigan driver’s license. C. Specialized training and/or certification/license: Current certification, registration and/or licensure to practice in the State of Michigan, as applicable CMA: Current certification with American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT); American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). AAMA certification preferred. CMA: Graduation from an accredited program AND certification by an NCCA certified agency. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. 4. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the residency clinic, including customer service, clerical functions, patient scheduling and registration, telephone interface, outreach, medical records, social work, nutrition and referrals. Coordinates and ensures adequate staffing at the residency clinic at all times. Coordinates office operations and procedures, such as bookkeeping and record keeping, preparation of payroll, information management, filing systems, requisition and storing of supplies, and clerical/financial assistance services to Ensures uniformity with the other health centers. Input all Resident schedules, employees and Attendings. Super user of EHS Program (electronic Medical Record System). Ensures daily billing. Ensures daily patient care and safety. Audit charts (Joint Commission Compliance). Oversee Clinic operations. Act as liaison between patients and all staff Schedule staff to meet all needs of the residents. Monthly staff meetings for four departments. Tracking of all stored medical records. Orientating and continuing education of residents; schedules and documentation. Schedule Attendings in clinic according to resident need and GME rules. Handling Buddy list for residents. Liaison between Chief Residents and Clinic. Taking care of patient complaints or issues with residents. Oversee medical Assistants to Ensures correct teaching skills. Clinical training of students and floats. Oversee Medical Receptionists for teaching of residents from scheduling point of view and from Hospital to outpatient visits. Ensures day-to-day operations. Inpatient billing from teaching rounds. Teaching process of referrals, precertifications and minor procedures. Daily Huddles for continuous clinic changes, updates and patient safety Monthly Residency Competency Committee Resident Evaluations yearly (Manager, staff and patients). Monthly faculty meetings. Update all staff competencies yearly. Performance evaluations of all staff yearly. PCMH and PCMH-N Implementation (Write policies and procedures, provide and create processes). Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of The Wellness Plan Medical Centers through performing behaviors consistent with the Trinity Health Values. Coordinates schedules and ensures that employees complete appropriate and required in-service and other on-the-job training. Coordinates and works with residency clinic staff, security and maintenance to ensure a safe environment for all staff, patients and visitors. Ensures that incidents involving staff, patients or visitors are appropriately documented. Implement and comply with corporate, state and federal rules and regulations that apply to the administrative areas including, but not limited to, HIPAA, state contract(s), Michigan laws, state and federal guidelines.
