SUMMARIZE YOUR BOOK : Describe the premise. Provide a two or three sentence statement about the book’s central concept. This is often worded as a problem and the solution the book provides.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BOOK : Expand upon your premise and give a full description of your book, stating its purpose and scope and listing its main features. Describe the niche it fills, its subject matter, the benefits it offers the readers, and key editorial points that make it unique. Be specific, as these will be key selling points.
CHAPTER-BY-CHAPTER OUTLINE : This is one of the most important parts of your proposal. Provide an annotated outline of the book. This outline should include section titles, chapter titles, and a two or three sentence description of each chapter’s content.
IILLUSTRATION PLANS : Will your book require illustrations? If yes, please elaborate on what your illustration plans are. Liberty University Press can provide illustration services, but authors may also outsource their illustrations.
WHO’S THE TARGET MARKET FOR YOUR BOOK : Tell us who your ideal audience is. Avoi d falling into the “all things for all people” trap. Specify who will need to read this book by identifying market segments. List the groups of readers in order of priority, including age, sex, educational level, etc. (You can do this by knowing what solution your book will provide and discovering who needs that most.) For professionals, provide specific job titles and industries in which they work. For students, please provide course titles and level (vocational, undergraduate, graduate).
LIST THE PRIMARY COMPETITIVE BOOKS THAT ARE REACHING YOUR TARGET MARKET : Include pertinent information, such as author, title, publisher, date published, and number of pages. Be sure to also list the price point along with whether it is a paperback or hardcover, so we know how to competitively price your book. For each competitive book listed, write a sentence or two on how your book is similar. Then, provide a sentence or two to explain how your book is different from (and, of course, better than) each. We need to know why your book should
be purchased above others.
IS YOUR BOOK TIME SENSITIVE?
Tell us if your subject matter is connected to any current historical events or affected by a particular timeline for its release.
RELEVANCE OF YOUR BOOK : Approximate the number of years the content of your book will be relevant.

MANUSCRIPT STATUS : Manuscript must be complete at the time of submission.
SUGGEST TWO ALTERNATIVE TITLES (and subtitles) FOR YOUR BOOK : If you are using both a title and subtitle, please list alternatives for both.
ANTICIPATED WORD COUNT : Generally, on a 6x9 book with 12-point type, there are approximately 25,000 words per 100 pages. So, if your manuscript is 62,500 words, your book will likely be somewhere around 250 pages, depending on book size and typeface. This, of course, is just an estimation of the final page count.
TELL US IF THERE WILL BE ANY ILLUSTRATIONS / FIGURES INCLUDED IN YOUR BOOK : If so, how many? Please provide separate estimates of photographs, clipart, figures, graphs or charts? Are they black & white or color? List which ones you have created and which are from other sources that you did not create.
NOTE: All illustrations must be provided in print resolution (300 dpi at print size) and saved as TIF (photos) or PDF or
EPS files (clipart, charts or graphs).
