Celebrating International Women’s Day 2012 ‘CONNECTING GIRLS, INSPIRING FUTURES’ International Women's Day on 8 March is a global day celebrating the struggles and achievements of women from all over the world. It grew from two sources – the struggle of working class women to form trade unions and the fight for women’s right to vote. The theme for 2012 - “CONNECTING GIRLS, INSPIRING FUTURES” - recognises that if every International Women's Day event held in 2012 includes girls in some way, then thousands of minds will be inspired globally.
