After the successful concert on May.20/2011 with the worldwide famous conductor/pianist
Mikhail Pletnev and the Russian National Orchestra at the 28th Shanghai Spring International
Music Festival as the “appointed” pianist, Chinese pianist Jane Xie captured more attention of the
audience. Later, she was invited to play at the Lille Piano Festival, together with the
world-renowned pianists: such as Boris Berezovsky, Helene Grimaud by the famous French
conductor Jean-Claude Casadesus who called Jane“A super talented female pianist who has the
natural gifts from the God: the brilliant technique, beautiful sound and great power.” Her playing
and performances have earned high praise by the French audience. She was interviewed

Praised by the prestigious Russian pianist Lilya Zilberstein: “A brilliant pianist with huge
repertoire, ranging from Barock to modern Music”, Jane Xie has given concerts in Germany,
France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Korea, Singapore, Australia and China. She has worked with
the famous conductors both home and abroad such as: Philip Bender; Cao Peng, Chen
Xieyang, Chen Zhengzhe, Misha Damev; Nanse Gum; Mikhail Pletnev; Muhai Tang, Yongji
Wang, Liang Zhang and Xu Zhong. She has also worked with the worldwide orchestras and
musicians, such as: the Russian National Orchestra; Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra,
Spain; 2011 Italian Youth Orchestra; Chamber Music Orchestra of the Royal Irish Academy of
Music; Shanghai Symphony Orchestra; Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra; Shanghai City
Symphony Orchestra; musicians of the Busan Philharmonic, Korea; world-renowned Mexican
cellist Carlos Prieto Jaquar; German violinist David Garett and the famous german producer
Leslie Mandoki. In June 2009, she was invited to play at the Chopin Festival in the well-known
Vadellmossa Monastery where Chopin and his lover George Sand stayed. In November 2010,
she was invited to give concerts and played at the Chopin Festival in Busan, Korea in Busan
Cultural Center and Geumjeong Cultural Center. In February 2011, her concert with Mo .Xu
Zhong started the cultural exchange year between China and Italy. In March 2011, she started
her tour in Italy.
In China, during the Expo, she was invited as the“special guest” to lead and play at the “Expo
Messengers” Concert. In October 2009, together with Maestro Jean-Bernard Prommier and
other 4 prestigious pianists from Russia, America and France, she was the youngest and
played at the opening ceremony of the 5th Shanghai International Piano Competition. As one
of the Artists of the “Artistic Director-Young Artists Project” of Shanghai Concert Hall, in the
year of 200 anniversary of Chopin, her concert ”Half Chinese Melodies, Half Chopin” were
well-received by the audience. In October 2010, her solo and concerto concert was one of the
series concerts of the Shanghai Arts Festival. On the New Year’s Eve 2010, she played the
famous Chinese piece: Music at Sunset in a new mixed style with the monks at the New Year’s
Benefit concert held by the Shanghai Government. On January 1st 2011, she started the New
Year with the Shanghai City Symphony Orchestra with the Chinese famous conductor: 86
years-old Cao Peng at the Oriental Art Center and played the Beethoven 5 th Piano
Concerto ”Emperor” with big success.
Born in Shanghai in 1983 into a classical- music-lover family, Jane began learning the piano
with her mother at the age of three. It wasn’t long before her talent for the piano became
obvious, and at seven years of age she was recommended to Professor Zheng Shuxing, then
head of the Piano Department at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, who ensured that Ms.
Xie received the best training of the russian school. During her childhood, she was a prize
winner of many national and international junior piano competitions. When she was twelve,
she passed with distinction the entrance examination into the Music Middle School of the
Shanghai Conservatory of Music, China’s most distinguished Music School for gifted children.
As one of the top students during her six years of study, she was awarded many scholarships.
In 2002, she continued her study at the University and Performing Arts, Munich in the class of
Prof. Gitti Pirner whose teacher was the Piano Master Wilhelm Kempff. In 2006, her MD
graduation concert convinced all the jury members to grant her special admission to study
the highest degree in Germany: Meisterklasse. In 2008 she achieved her Meisterklasse
degree with distinction. (This degree is the equivalent of a Doctor’s degree).
She was the first prize-winner of the XV Rotary International Piano Competition in Spain and
prize-winner of the piano competitions, such as the Seiler International Piano Competition,
Kitzingen, Germany; the Stravinsky International Piano Competition, USA and the Munich
International Youth Piano Competition, Germany
As a freelance composer and writer, Jane’s composition works have been played in TV series,
such as “2011 China’s Record Show” and her articles about music were published in many
major music magazines, such as《Music Lover》.
In 2010, she was recognised as one of the Ten Most Successful Women in China by the Hong
Kong《Jessica》Magazine. In the same year, she was the Recommended Artist on the “Culture
Honour Board” by the famous Wen Hui Daily.
Her latest CD Album《Chinese Melodies》was released by Shanghai Audio&Video Publishing
House.
