BILL AS INTRODUCED 2000 1 H.733 Page 1 H.733 2 Introduced by Committee on Agriculture 3 Date: 4 Subject: Agriculture; livestock; dealers 5 Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to clarify existing law on livestock 6 dealer regulation. 7 AN ACT RELATING TO LIVESTOCK DEALERS 8 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont: 9 Sec. 1. 6 V.S.A. § 768 is amended to read: 10 11 12 13 § 768. DUTIES OF DEALERS A livestock dealer licensed under section 762 of this title shall: *** (4) Maintain, subject to inspection by the commissioner of agriculture, 14 food and markets or his or her agent, a proper record in which all cattle 15 livestock purchased, repossessed, sold or loaned are to be listed, giving breed, 16 date purchased, repossessed, sold or loaned and complete names and addresses 17 from whom obtained and to whom delivered. Such record shall also show the 18 ear tag number of each animal, except untagged cattle for immediate slaughter. 19 Untagged cattle acquired by a dealer, except cattle for immediate slaughter, 20 shall be held on the dealer's premises and such cattle shall be tuberculin and VT LEG 119681.1 BILL AS INTRODUCED 2000 H.733 Page 2 1 blood tested by an approved veterinarian at dealer's expense. Registered 2 purebred cattle which do not bear ear tags shall be recorded by giving tattoo 3 markings, description and such other information as is necessary to identify 4 such cattle. This section shall not apply to calves under three months of age 5 individual identification of the livestock as prescribed for each species by the 6 commissioner. 7 8 9 *** Sec. 2.
