To teach courses for Childcare , you need a Bachelor’s degree with childcare expertise.

For ParaEducator courses, we require that you have a Texas teaching certificate. For

Teacher Certification courses, you must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a

Texas teaching certificate and experience in the classroom.

We pay $30.00 per hour, and most courses take place on Saturdays and evenings.

Occasionally, we have training taking place during the day or offer online courses. All of our courses are taught by hourly employees with no benefits except for happy students!

Course rationale example: Substitute teachers are often in short supply in the community. It is important for people who wish to serve as substitute teachers to have appropriate training in the skills and knowledge necessary to perform effectively.

Course assessment example: Students will prepare a Substitute folder with items needed for substituting in schools.

Course description example: Introduction to the role of the substitute, student need identification, behavior modification, classroom management, school personnel relations, skill development in the principles of human growth, and development as related to childhood and adolescence.

Course Description:

Learning Outcomes example : The student will discuss the primary functions of a substitute teacher on a short- and long-term assignment; identify and demonstrate a minimum of three effective teaching methodologies; and name strategies for creating a learning environment.

Learning Outcomes:

Evaluation example: The student will be evaluated on participation in online activities and the quality of completed assignments. Students who participate and produce a score of 80% or better on assessments will receive continuing education units. The instructor will validate each participant’s achievement of the course objectives by signing and awarding individual Certificates of Completion.

Course Assessment: Students will be able to write a resume using past experience with students and why the student desires a substituting position; students will create a list of questions to ask before/during/after the substitute experience; students will create a Classroom Management Plan to use in several different situations; students will create a lesson plan based on TEKS and TAKS; students will create a bag of tricks including activities; students will demonstrate an understanding of teaching in the classroom and what substitutes must know.
