Robert B. Jones, Ph.D., President and CEO
Children’s Aid and Family Services
Dr. Bob Jones is President and CEO of Children’s Aid and Family Services, Inc.
He has served as the agency executive since 1985. Dr. Jones is also an adjunct professor
at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza Business College where he teaches
fundamentals of philanthropy.
He is active in his community, statewide and nationally. He has served on
numerous non-for profit Boards; such as the Alliance for Children and Families, where he
chaired their national development committee and currently chairs their planned gifts
campaign; the Community Foundation of NJ; Gilda’s Club of Northern NJ; the Council
on Accreditation where he chaired the Accreditation Commissions for eight years. He is
a past president of the Family Service Association of NJ.
Dr. Jones is the 2003 recipient of the Samuel Gerson Nordlinger Child Welfare
Leadership Award, presented by the Alliance for Children and Families, and is also a
Walter Head Fellow for Leadership in Program Innovation and Development, presented
by Rotary International.
Dr. Jones is a charter member of the Alliance’s Resource Development Services
Committee and since 2000 has served as its national chair. He writes a column on the
state of philanthropy in the Alliance for Children and Families Magazine and has
published on issues of non-profit governance, philanthropy, mental health and child
welfare. He has presented on issues of philanthropy and board development both
nationally and regionally and has facilitated numerous board retreats throughout the
nation.
Dr. Jones obtained his doctorate in social policy and administration from Rutgers
University, his master’s degree in clinical social work from the Rutgers Graduate School
of Social Work, and his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College. His post-graduate
training includes certificates from the Executive Management and Leadership Program at
Harvard University’s JFK School of Government, the Program on Negotiation at the
Harvard Law School, and the New Jersey Institute for Short-Term Dynamic
Psychotherapy.
