Green Slime (easy method) Safety; to be conducted with adult supervision Materials 1 teaspoon psyllium husk ($18.00 /kg/bulk from a health food store) You’ll need about 200gm / class Film canisters Water Green Food Colour Pop sticks Microwave Oven Resealable plastic snack bag $2.50 / 65 bags, Woollies/Coles Procedure (per student) In a film canister combine one level teaspoon of psyllium, water to nearly fill the film canister and one drip of green food colouring Mix for a few minutes with a pop stick. Put you name on the pop stick. Stand your pop stick in the canister and put it on the microwave plate with all the other canisters in the class.(appox 25) Put the plate in the microwave. Have an adult set the microwave on high for approximately fifty seconds, just to warm the mixture. (may vary) Remove the warm canisters from the microwave. Stir vigorously for three minutes, then microwave again for approximately forty seconds, to rewarm. Have an adult remove the containers (be careful, they may be hot). Stir vigorously again for three or four minutes. Store your slime in a resealable click zip plastic bag so it doesn't dry out. Wet your hands to stop the slime sticking when you play with it. Remember it is a food so keep it in the refrigerator and dispose of within a couple of days.
