May Fair Poll Dorset Sale – May 2012 Recorded Poll Dorset and Dorset Horn rams achieved a significant premium at the sale, where the trade for rams was generally strong. Signet recorded rams made £140/head more than non-recorded rams. Recorded rams with above average indexes averaged an impressive £1070/head. The 11 entries in the Signet class all sold; averaging £1186/head. This class was won by Sherborne Storm, Centurion ram of the year – which went on to realise £3,150 to a non-recorded flock. Nearly half the entries sold had Signet records and it was noticeable that buyers were picking out the high Muscle Depth EBV sires at the sale – with all 8 rams in the Top 10% of the breed for Muscle Depth selling to average £1912/head.
