(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, JANUARY 23 - Prolonged applause by a large crowd welcomed Paolo Sorrentino's
The Great Beauty, which won a Golden Globe and is competing for an Academy Award, screened on
Wednesday night in Kustendof, the international cinema and music festival created and directed by Emir
Kusturica and dedicated to young filmmakers and students.
The festival, which takes place in Drvengrad, a village entirely built in wood on the western mountains of
Serbia, created by Kusturica in 2004 as a set for his film Life is a Miracle, closes on Thursday with a 'golden
egg' award to the best film made by a young director.
Sorrentino replied to questions for an hour and a half after the movie was screened focusing on how the
movie was made and on his artistic personality and was the true star of the seventh edition of the festival.
'The festival's guest is a future Oscar winner', said Kusturica when he welcomed Sorrentino whose
participation was supported by the Italian cultural institute in Belgrade, directed by Sira Miora who
attended the screening and debate.
Artist and singer Paolo Rossi also attended the event.
The movie 'Sacro GRA' by Gianfranco Rosi, which won a Golden Lion at the 70th international Venice film
festival was also screened.
'The Great Beauty' will be presented also at the international film 'Fest' in Belgrade scheduled at the end of
