Scholarship Application For
Graduating Seniors
Each year at the Finial Booster Club meeting in May we will be awarding
Scholarships to the graduating senior class. Applications for all sports will be
administrated by each sport team booster club and sport team coach. The
application process shall commence in the spring semester of the graduating class
with the deadline established by executive booster club board. Applications are to
be given to each sport team coach completed and signed by applicant.
Guyer Athletic Booster Club Scholarships
The Guyer Athletic Booster Club is pleased to be able to administer and award scholarships to students that
have participated in Athletic program of Denton ISD, Guyer High School. We continue to look for ways to
increase the number of available scholarships to meet the needs of our growing campus.
Graduating Senior Scholarships
Guyer Athletic Booster Club Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors to help them in their continued
educational journey. All sport teams and trainer Scholarships will be awarded to seniors at the May, meeting of
Executive Guyer Athletic Booster Club.
Applications for all sports will be administrated by each sport team booster club and sport team coach. The
application process shall commence in the spring semester of the graduating class with the deadline established
by executive booster club board for that graduating class. Applications are to be given to each sport team coach
completed and signed by applicant.
Scholarships are awarded based on specific criteria established by the Guyer Athletic Booster Club. We look to
recognize a student who has excelled academically and athletically or as an active community citizen, we look
for students that have work hard to achieve success without being at the top of their class.
Guyer Athletic Booster Club Scholarship applications are read blindly and contain questions designed to help
the scholarship readers and the Scholarship Selection Committee select seniors that should be recognized for
their academic and athletic careers while at Guyer High School.
All Guyer High School Senior Students are eligible to apply for any scholarship that they feel they meet the
criteria. Eligibility will be verified by Guyer Athletic Booster Club.
Guyer Athletic Booster Club Scholarships
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in applying for a scholarship through Guyer Athletic Booster Club. The following
guidelines are provided to make application easier for you and for the Selection Committee. Please read
carefully and follow the guidelines itemized below.
Eligibility and Qualifications:
• Meet Denton ISD Enrollment: The applicant must be a Guyer High School District Senior who is scheduled
to graduate in the spring of the current school year and plans on attending college/university the following
summer or fall semester.
• Scholarship claiming period: Scholarships not claimed for the following summer semester, fall semester or
spring semester by the student for a college or university of higher education will no longer be available to
receive scholarship funds that were awarded to the student. (The following January 1st after graduation)
• Comply with Application Deadline: All application information must be received by the Team Athletic
Booster Club. The application process shall commence in the spring semester of the graduating class with the
deadline established by executive booster club board. Applications are to be given to each sport team coach
completed and signed by applicant.
• Submit all Requested Information: Required materials include completed, signed Eligibility Form, special
essays (only if applicable).
• Application Form is completed and submitted by the student.
• Complete, sign and submit the Scholarship Eligibility Form: sign the Scholarship Eligibility Form to
verify accuracy of the information provided.
• Eligible Students: Student has participated in Athletics at Guyer High School as a (player, manager, or
trainer) and has maintained a 2.5 cumulative grade point average for their Guyer High School official
transcripts.
• Multiple Scholarships : Students may apply for multiple Guyer Booster Club Scholarships, as long as they
meet the scholarship criteria. Students that receive a full ride scholarship are ineligible for Guyer Booster Club.
Format Instructions:
• Use the online form only for your responses. Please do not create your own form. No Application other than
the online application will be considered.

Guyer Athletic Booster Club Scholarships
The Guyer High School Athletic Sport Programs operate under the Guyer Athletic Booster Club, Inc. The Guyer
Athletic Booster Club is pleased to be able to administer and award scholarships to students that have
participated in Athletic program of Denton ISD, Guyer High School.
Policies & Procedures:

Each individual sport may award at least one Senior Scholarship if they have one or more seniors who
have applied for the Scholarship and if they have any Scholarship funds available and if the student is
eligible.

Individual sports may carry over Scholarship funds not awarded to the next year.

Earned Scholarship funds can not be used for anything other than Senior Scholarships.

No individual sport is allowed to award Booster Club Scholarship through any means other than the
approved application process and the approved disbursement process.

Any athlete who receives a scholarship that covers room, board and tuition for the Fall and Spring
Semesters is considered a full ride. If an athlete receives a full ride after the Booster Club scholarship
has been awarded, the scholarships will be cascaded to the scholarship recipients and alternate.

The suggested minimum amount for scholarships for a sport is $500.

The minimum scholarship amount that can be awarded to an individual athlete is $250 or the earned
Scholarship amount for the individual sport.

The maximum scholarship amount that can be awarded to an individual athlete for one sport is $1000.

A Sport Team may provide funding to their scholarship fund but not to the determent of the Sport
activity account.
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION PROCESS
Advance Review Instructions
CODING OF SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS:
Applications are listed by letter/number identification code only, with the code appearing in the upper left
corner of each application. Keeping applications in numerical order should facilitate discussion during the
selection committee meeting.
APPLICATION EVALUATION FORM:
Application Evaluation Forms is provided, including a separate form for each student. Please review and rate
each applicant, using the form, prior to the meeting. Space has been provided for any comments or
observations you wish to record to help in later selection or as a quick reminder of your impressions. This is a
vital step that will make the committee selection meeting smoother.
SELECTION ORDER FOR REVIEW:
1.
Read and individually evaluate each scholarship.
2.
Using the “Scholarship Evaluation Form”, make tentative rank order lists first for scholarship. This
will then eliminate some names from consideration for broader areas. Remember, this is only
preliminary. You may change these during the Committee meeting, but it will provide a good
starting point. It is important to do this prior to the meeting.
3.
Make tentative selections for the scholarships, keeping the criteria and preferences in mind.
4.
Meet with the Scholarship Review Committee at the designated time to determine selections. You
will serve as advocate for your set of applications during the meeting.
5.
The Scholarship Review Committee along with the Sport Coach shall provide the final ranking for
awarding scholarships; the Sport Coach shall control majority scoring. The ranking order shall list
first down, if for any reason the scholarship designee is unable to receive the scholarship; the
scholarship shall be awarded to the next in the final ranking.
6.
No senior parent will serve on the scholarship selection committee. The committee shall consist of
an odd number of committee members.
7.
The Sport coach will turn all applications to the Executive Board President.
