No.: Level: Current Scale 5 Proposed Scale G05 Location: Dinerth Road Colwyn Bay Department/ Service: Education Responsible to: Climbing Higher Programme Manager Job Purpose 1. To increase the percentage of children taking part in extracurricular sport and physical activity on a regular basis at an identified LEA Secondary School. 2. To increase the percentage of children taking part in extracurricular sport and physical activity on a regular basis at locally identified LEA Primary Schools. Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific 1. To be responsible for the implementation of the Secondary School Sport programme in this local authority. 2. To be responsible for the development of a programme of new and additional extra curricular opportunities both on and off site to reflect the needs of the pupils within the designated school. 3. To recruit and support teachers, parents, senior pupils and other volunteers into AYP Leadership, in order to assist in the delivery of the programme. 4. To work towards the provision of sustainable lifelong participation through links with community partners. 5. To work within the school to create ‘whole school’ ownership and development. 6. To establish and manage meetings of a steering group made up of key local representatives from sport, leisure and PE. 7. To be responsible for the implementation of appropriate monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and the collection and collation of appropriate data to measure the effectiveness of the Secondary School Sport Programme. 8. To undertake administrative and financial tasks associated with the Secondary School Sport Programme. 9. To ensure that the needs of young people of all abilities, including young people with disabilities, are taken into account by the programme. 10. To work in conjunction with local sports development officers, leisure staff, Governing Bodies of Sport and local education representatives to ensure the Secondary School Sport Programme complements and links with other Sport and Physical Activity development opportunities. 11. To ensure the effective implementation of Local Authority and School Policies and Procedures including Health & Safety. 12. To undertake appropriate training activities. 13. To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with salary grade and capabilities of the post holder. 14. To enhance extra-curricular Transition between the Dragon Sport and 5x60 Scheme through locally identified transition project/s within appropriate school cluster groups. 15. The post is based as directed by the Line Manager; however the post is such that the hours of employment will be flexible and include evening and weekend work. Lieu time will be awarded for additional hours worked. Duties and Responsibilities - Corporate 1. To be responsible for establishing good working relationships both internally and externally. 2. Compliance with the Authority’s Policies and Procedures and to make known to Senior Officers any areas which are not adequately covered. 3. To participate actively in supporting the Authority’s principles and practices of equality of opportunity as laid down within the Equal Opportunities Policy. 4. To be responsible for the application of Health & Safety practices within the daily operations, sharing a common responsibility for Health & Safety across the department, directorate and Authority as a whole. 5.
