TIMELINE OF EVENTS FROM THE MEXICAN WAR TO THE CIVIL WAR
PROJECT
OBJECTIVE
3.01 Trace the economic, social, and political events from the Mexican War to the outbreak of the Civil War.
TASK
Create a timeline of the social, political, and economic events from the Mexican War to the outbreak of the Civil War
(firing on Ft. Sumter). Your final project must contain the following:
1. A chart of the social, political, and economic events from the Mexican War to the Civil War; and
2. A PowerPoint or poster timeline of the social, political, and economic events from the Mexican War to the Civil
War.
ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
Your timeline is required to contain the following two parts:
1. Chart. Before beginning your timeline, you are to complete a chart, which will serve as your guide, of the social,
political, and economic events from the Mexican War to the Civil War. This chart will be turned in with your final
timeline and will serve as your notes. Your chart and timeline are to contain at least eight (8) events and no
more than 11 events. Your chart can be completed on notebook paper as follows:
Social Events
(date & explanation of
event)
Political Events
(date & explanation of event)
Economic Events
(date & explanation of event)
2. Final Timeline. Your final product will be a timeline completed as a PowerPoint presentation or on a poster.
Your 8-11 events are to be plotted on your timeline as instructed in class. The events are to be color coordinated
(color of your choice) into separated categories: social, political, and economic events. The date of each event is to
be noted. In addition, you are to explain the significance of each event. Graphics that relate to each topic are to be
provided on your timeline.
*You are to attach your chart (preparation notes) to the back of your timeline if it is a poster. If you are
completing a PowerPoint timeline, you are to turn your chart separately.
