Sustainable water management is at the forefront of their agendas, including the joint setting up and implementation of river basin management plans, flood and drought management, water efficiency measures, as well as providing clean drinking water and waste water treatment. This seminar will look at policy strategies, projects and concrete actions towards achieving the good status of ground and surface waters in Europe's regions and cities, as laid down in the EU Water Framework Directive. The three sessions of the seminar will focus on the latest developments of EU policy framework, as well as identify successful examples across localities and regions in the EU in sustainable water management, having as guests keynote speakers and experts in this field. It will outline future priorities for local and regional authorities in further WFD implementation.
