Cameron Makovichuk 1 ERINWOODS PL ST ALBERT, ALBERTA T8N 7B2 makovichuk@ualberta.net TEL (780) 907-4658 Teaching Philosophy I believe that students are like scientists, who approach the world in unique and particularly scientific ways. They arrive with preconceptions (and sometimes misconceptions) about the way reality is; and through such methods as predicting, experimenting, inference and reflection students gradually transform and adapt their existing knowledge. In this way, students are neither receptacles awaiting teachers’ deposits, nor are they incomplete persons. Students should be honoured for their contributions to a learning environment that invites students to teach as well as be taught, challenges teachers to learn along side students, and involves parents and community members.
