Caloundra Tennis Centre – Arthur Street, Caloundra
Central Park Master Plan
The Caloundra Central Park Sport and
Recreation Precinct Master Plan will assist the
future development of sport and active
recreation in Caloundra and the surrounding
region. The Caloundra Tennis Centre (to be
developed into the Sunshine Coast Regional
Tennis Centre) and surrounds have been
identified as Stage One of the Master Plan.
Tennis Centre
Tennis Australia identified the Sunshine Coast
as a high priority for a regional tennis facility.
As a result, the Central Park Master Plan
nominated the Caloundra Tennis Centre to be
expanded to the Sunshine Coast Regional
Tennis Centre, a regional standard centre with
capacity to attract and host international events.

Funding
Council has submitted an application for
$773,000 to the Regional Development
Australia Fund (Round 4 – Supporting
Infrastructure Projects).
It is expected this funding would assist with
construction of additional tennis courts and the
upgrade of existing courts, with the clubhouse
to be upgraded in future stages of the project.
Council will provide funding and Tennis
Queensland and Tennis Australia have
committed financial assistance for the new
courts.

The consultants have identified a suitable
location for the new tennis courts and future
clubhouse (Figure 1).
Community engagement
Meetings have been held with key
stakeholders, including user groups of the
complex – council has considered this feedback
as part of the design process. Revised concept

The Tennis Centre will provide a high standard sporting facility for locals and help attract
national events to our region – a great boost for our local economy. I would like to thank
the sporting groups who have provided feedback on the designs so far. This is an
exciting time for sports in Caloundra. I will keep you updated on the funding application
to the federal government – it is important for the future of this project.
