Bioblurb
Kiki Nikiforidou is Associate Professor of Linguistics at the Department of English,
University of Athens. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University
of California at Berkeley. Her academic interests are in the areas of construction
grammar, cognitive linguistics, grammaticalization, and lexicography. Her present
research focuses on the relation of grammar to discourse - she is currently writing a
book on dicoursally motivated constructions and the integration of discoursal
categories in grammatical description.
She has taught courses in cognitive semantics, construction grammar,
lexicography, and historical linguistics/grammaticalization. From 2003 to 2009 she
was on the administrative committee and taught courses in the interdepartmental MA
program “Lexicography: Theory and Applications” (jointly funded by the ministry of
Education and the EU).
She is co-editor of Constructions and Frames, an international peer-reviewed
journal
