Diario fotográfico bilingüe Bilingual Photo-journal Proyecto de módulo cuatro Hablantes Nativos Create a bilingual photo-journal that includes 5 paragraphs in English and Spanish about your family’s heritage and immigration story AND 5 photographs you took that model the style of a Hispanic artist learned about in class. Photo-journals will be displayed in an art show open to the school and the community. This project will be worked on in both 9th grade English and Spanish 1, with a grade for each class on different parts of the project. Cameras and developing photographs will be provided. Steps Español 1. Study in class about different Hispanic artists, Spanish speaking countries, Hispanic traditions, immigration, and Hispanic culture in Los Angeles. 2. Each week write a paragraph in Spanish about the assigned topic (see description below) 3. Interview a family member about your family’s immigration story, past traditions, and current traditions. 4. Take photographs to illustrate the topics you wrote about. 5. After getting the photographs developed, add to your paragraphs a description of the 5 photos you chose to tie it all together. 6. If your family is from more than one country, you can chose one or describe both. If you don’t know what country your family is from, you can ask your parents/relatives OR describe the area your oldest living relatives grew up in. (example: New York in the 1950s) (Native and Non Natives: use present tense) Paragraph and Photo 2: Past Tradition Write a paragraph about a tradition that your family used to do in their home country. (Native: use imperfect tense, Non Native: use present tense) Paragraph and Photo 3: Immigration Story Write a paragraph describing how your family immigrated to Los Angeles according to what your family member tells you during your interview. If you can’t interview someone in your family who immigrated, interview someone who knows the story well. (Native: use preterit and imperfect tenses, Non Native: use present tense) Paragraph and Photo 4: Current Tradition Write a paragraph about a tradition that your family used to do in their home country and STILL DOES here in Los Angeles.
