Performance criteria 1.1 Pigs in the required weight range are performance tested in accordance with on-farm procedures. Range weighing, backfat test. 1.2 Performance indices are calculated from performance test results. 1.3 Superior pigs are selected in accordance with breeding programme objectives. 1.4 Selected pigs are visually appraised, and those meeting the required standard are selected as breeding herd replacements or for sale, in accordance with onfarm procedures. Range feet, legs, teating, genitalia, abnormalities. 1.5 Selected replacement pig breeding stock meet the required number to maintain the breeding herd at target numbers in accordance with on-farm procedures. 1.6 Identification devices are safely and humanely applied in accordance with onfarm procedures and the welfare code. Range 1.7 ear tags, ear notches. Information is recorded in accordance with breeding programme objectives and on-farm procedures. Element 2 Prepare selected breeding stock for sale. Performance criteria 2.1 Selected breeding stock for sale are held in lairage until predetermined sale weight is reached in accordance with breeding programme sale requirements and on-farm procedures. 2.2 Selected breeding stock for sale are treated in accordance with breeding programme sale requirements and on-farm procedures.
