International Smash Hit Stomp’s to Woking With its unique combination of rhythm, theatre, comedy and dance, this feet stamping, finger drumming, adrenalin rushing show returns to the New Victoria Theatre, Woking from Tue 19 – Sat 24 October. After an astonishing 8 years in the West End, STOMP unveils a revamped show, inspired by their large-scale Las Vegas version, STOMP OUT LOUD. New music and choreography join a fresh array of ordinarily mundane objects, onto which the cast work their musical magic. STOMP finds the beauty and music in the mundane, using the junk and clutter of life to create an infectious source of rhythm and wonder. Huge, ribbed tubes, previously used for recycling fluorescent lights, are themselves recycled into outsized Guiros, a Latin American percussion instrument, played by scraping the ridged sides with a stick. With the emphasis very much on the ‘spectacular’, the Stompers are also joined by inflated monster truck inner tubes, strapped around their waists to create both a dance of bobbing, whirling rubber skirts and pounding, portable drum kits: the ultimate redefinition of ‘surround sound.’ In its lifetime STOMP has consumed over 60,000 boxes of matches, 40,000 brooms, 30,000 bins, 30,000 drumsticks and 35,000 litres of black paint applied with 1137 paint rollers! More… Still remaining is STOMP’S signature high-octane meeting of slick choreography, tight ensemble work, industrial percussion and a narrative of anarchic clowning; as the irrepressible troupe of eight perform with everything from Zippo lighters, plastic bags, bin lids and even the kitchen sink to hammer out an explosively feel good rhythm! Joyous, thumping, exhilarating bliss for all involved…expect the bins! If you have never experience STOMP, then this is your chance to see why this breath-taking, multi-award winning show continues to thrill audiences around the world. Not to be missed!
