Why is Propylene Glycol used in hair care and is it safe ?
Certified Organic means that the product must comply with strict standards and regulations set by the
Certified Organic industry and must comply with the National Organic Standard administered by A.Q.I.S
(Australian Quarantine Inspection Service). Consumers are now assured that certified organic
ingredients have no pesticides, synthetic insecticides, fungicides, herbicides or genetically modified
ingredients used in any phase of their production, from farm to consumer.
All organic ingredients used in EverEscents products have been certified as organic by accredited
agents who verify that they meet the National Organic Standards. EverEscents keeps detailed records
on all organic ingredients as specified by this law.
Do EverEscents products contain any artificial colours or fragrances ?
Absolutely not…EverEscents hair care products are coloured and fragranced as a result of their certified
organic essential oil, vegetable and herb ingredients.
Why does EverEscents use Certified Organic essential oils ?
EverEscents is extremely proud to use Certified Organic essential oils in all their hair care products as
they are many therapeutic benefits and are far superior to synthetic oils and they smell great.
EverEscents uses only the finest and most pure oils available, which are much more expensive than the
synthetic oils, because a large amount of plant material is required to produce even a small amount of
essential oil.
How does using Certified Organic Ingredients help the environment ?

Is it safe to use essential oils during pregnancy ?
The concentration of essential oils in EverEscents products are safe for use in pregnancy.
Why do you not use sulfates such as sodium lauryl sulfate & why are they bad?
Sulfates are added to hair care products as foam boosters. These ingredients are strong in cleansing
power, low in cost and also highly irritating. The potential health effects include cataracts, corneal
damage, improper eye development in infants & children, dry skin, liver toxicity, dermatitis, mouth

EverEscents uses much gentler plant based cleansers that feel more luxurious and cleanse without
stripping the hairs natural oils. EverEscents NEVER uses Sodium Lauryl Sulphate or Sodium Laureth
Sulphate.
Why is Propylene Glycol used in hair care and is it safe ?
Propylene Glycol is present in many hair care products for its humectant qualities (drawing water to
itself). Propylene Glycol is a petrochemical and is a primary irritant. It is usually used in place of
glycerine; a highly effective plant derived humectant, because it is cheap. Studies have shown that
Propylene Glycol is not safe as the potential health effects include kidney damage, liver abnormalities,

EverEscents does NOT use Propylene Glycol in any of our productse to try using a towel with a smooth
velvet-type surface

HERBAL EXTRACTS - CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Burdock Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Burdock is great for hair in shampoos as it enhances stimulation of blood flow.
Chamomile Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Chamomile is a fabulous addition of improving the colour and general health of your hair, whilst making
it soft and supple. Chamomile has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, whilst being soothing and
calming. This is one of nature's safest and most effective sedatives. Scientific studies have found that a
flavonoid found in Chamomile flowers (apigenin), has anti-histaminic properties.
Calendula Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Calendula is an excellent anti-inflammatory and is very useful for irritated skin in general.
Horsetail Herb Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Horsetail Herb is considered to have the best possible healing effect for most skin conditions. It has
healing and calming properties and strengthens the hair whilst giving a healthier glow. Horsetail Herb is
a natural source of silica.
Lavender Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Lavender is well known for its calming and antiseptic properties. It is also helpful to normalise scalp
conditions.
Nettle Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Nettle is known to be high in iron and has stimulating properties. Its helps return the natural colour of the
hair and also assists in preventing dandruff and hair loss. Nettle is also said to increase the microcirculation of the skin.
Peppermint Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Peppermint is cooling on the scalp and therefore invigorates scalp circulation.
Red Clover Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Red Clover revives and purifies the scalp.
Rosemary Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Rosemary is an excellent hair tonic for all hair types as it helps to keep hair in good condition. It is the
best conditioner for any hair colour and keeps the scalp in good condition, leaving hair soft and healthy.
Sage Extract (Certified Organic by OGA)
Sage is a good cleanser for the hair and is said to help promote good shine. Sage also strengthens and
thickens hair. Sage extract is also a powerful anti-oxidant.
SPECIAL INGREDIENTS
Silk Amino Acids
Natural moisturising hair treatment. The low molecular weight of silk amino acids indicates the
molecules the cuticle of the hair as well as the surface layer of the epidermis. Silk amino acids improve
the hair with regard to feel and gloss and have a moisturising effect due to their water binding
properties.
Ginseng Extract
Provides essential energy and is the hair follicles rejuvenating factor, slowing down the degeneration of
cells. Ginseng has also been used for thousands of years by Asian people to promote healthy beautiful
hair and not many would argue that they do have extremely beautiful hair.
Green Tea Extract
Green Tea extract is a powerful free radical scavenger. Green tea is known to contain polyphenols that
have been clinically proven to protect the scalp against free radical damage which can lead to cell
death. Free radicals are potentially destructive forms of oxygen that can disrupt (oxidise) cell
membranes. Exposure to pollution, excess sunlight and smoking may increase the numbers of free
radicals.
Soy Protein - Derived from Soy Beans
Hydrolysed Soy Protein is a natural ingredient made from soybeans. It acts as a conditioner, giving body
and texture to the hair. The protein becomes attracted to the hair cuticles and forms a protective layer;
this then softens and repairs the hair in addition to providing fullness, shine and glass. It also reduces
'fly-away' hair. It is an excellent natural addition in hair care products.
Vitamin B5 Panthenol
When Vitamin B5 is used in hair care products it is readily absorbed into the hair, being deposited onto
the cuticle and penetrating the cortex of the hair. This is even more so for bleached or permed hair.
Vitamin B5 provides benefits such as long lasting moisturisation, it imparts lustre, and it has a
conditioning effect resulting in easily manageable hair. It considerably reduces the formation of split
ends. It serves to repair damaged hair and can thicken undamaged hair by up to 10%.
Vitamin E Tocophyerol
Vitamin E is an effective anti-oxidant with healing and rejuvenating benefits that help prevent cell
damage by neutralising free radicals.
Sea Salt
Sea Salt is used at less than 1% as a thickening agent.
Cetearyl Alcohol - Plant Derived Wax
Cetearyl Alcohol is added to EverEscents detangling ingredient to thicken their hair nourishment
conditioners. It is a totally plant derived wax.
CLEANSERS
Olefin Sulphonate - Olive Oil Derivative
CLEANSERS are a type of emulsifier. They are made up of an oil compatible 'head' which imbeds into
dirt impregnated oil, and a water compatible 'tail', which aids in washing the dirt away.
EverEscents specifically choose to use this ingredient as the primary cleanser in our Organic Hair
Cleanse Shampoo products, as it is from the Sulphonate group. It is a cleansing agent that is skin
friendly and has negligible irritancy. It is plant derived and performs well.
The commercial cosmetic industry has chosen to use sulfates such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and
Sodium Laureth Sulfate as their main cleansers, due to the powerful cleansing action and low cost.
However sulfates tend to be powerful irritants and there are also questions about their long-term safety.
Coco Betaine - Derived from Coconut
EverEscents chose this ingredient as it is an extremely mild and easily biodegradable cleanser derived
from coconut oil. It has natural and safe foaming qualities that gently clean without stripping away the
natural oils. It can promote manageability for hair.
PRESERVATIVES
Citric Acid Vitamin C
Citric Acid is used at less than 1% as a natural preservative.
Pure Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil is a natural preservative used at less than 1%, it is extremely powerful and has a broad
spectrum of activity against a variety of bacteria, yeast and fungi. It is a revolutionary organic
preservative used as a replacement for the irritating and toxic synthetic parabens usually used in hair
care.
HAIR DETANGLER
Behentrimonium Methosulphate - Derived from Rape Seed
We proudly choose Behentrimonium Methosulphate, as it is the mildest detangling ingredient available.
It is derived from rape seed (canola oil), combined with the extremely mild methosulphate group instead
of the much cheaper and more irritating chlorine. This high-tech naturally derived ingredient is renowned
for its superior detangling ability, without causing excessive build-up on the hair. In fact it is so mild that
it is recommended for use in leave-on baby products.
HUMECTANT
Vegetable Glycerine
Vegetable Glycerine is totally derived from vegetable oils. EverEscents chose to use it in all of their
organic hair nourishment conditioner products for its fabulous humectant qualities in attracting and
holding moisture.
EMULSIFIER
Dimethycone Glyceryl Stearate - Vegetable Emulsifier
Dimethycone Glyceryl Stearate is 100% vegetable derived. It is well known, as one of the gentlest and
safest emulsifying waxes available. It is used as a natural emollient and thickening agent. It adds
thickness, shine and manageability, whilst soothing, softening and protecting the hair.ile we take all care

Normal to Oily Hair Tip - Often times the oil is caused by environmental pollutants, poor diet, over
washing and sometimes it is just plain old hereditary. Try rinsing your hair off with cold water before you

Skin & Hair – Rosemary Verbenone has traditionally been used in skin & hair care for hundreds of
years. It is used in shampoo & hair conditioner to help stimulate blood circulation to the scalp, thus
being beneficial for promoting hair growth.

Normal to Dry Hair Tip – Well at least you don't have to wash your hair everyday (with every cloud
there is a silver lining). Be sure to leave on your conditioner for as long as possible before rinsing off, as
the longer you leave the conditioner on your hair , the more opportunity there is for the conditioning
agents to be deposited on the hair shaft and absorbed around the cuticle. Also limit the use of blow
dryers, curling & straightening irons which can further damage and dry out the hair
Essential Oil Information
Mind & Spirit – Lavender is well known for its sedative properties, it is useful to alleviate stress
and has very valuable antiseptic properties. Lavender is useful in the treatment of all types of
pain. Due to its low toxicity Lavender is one of the safest essential oils to use with children
Skin & Hair – Lavender promotes growth of new cells and exerts a balancing action of sebum,
thus it is useful for most skin and hair conditions. Dryness usually occurs in the colder months of
the year and Lavender will help restore moisture to the hair and skin.
Professional Haircare Tips
Just to begin with there are over 100,000 hairs on your head, that's a lot of hair to take care of !!
Hair isn't stagnant
it changes from day to day as a result of the weather (particularly humidity), hormonal changes (month
to month), seasonal changes (hotter months versus wetter months) and also year to year, as we get
older.
Hot Styling Tools
There are NO hair care products that can completely protect your hair from heat damage. Hair styling
tools such as blow dryers, curling or straightening irons can get to as hot as 350oF, transferring about
200oF direct to the hair, obviously this kind of heat is going to cause some sort of damage, can you
imagine this kind of heat on your skin…if you can't do it to your skin you shouldn't do it to your hair. Most
of us use styling tools and love them so EverEscents had this in mind when we formulated our products;
our hair care is designed to help keep the moisture in your hair, so if you use styling tools at least you
will know you are giving your hair something back in return.
Sun damage to your hair
This is completely unavoidable and unless you live in a dark bubble, the sun will always cause your hair
colour to fade, breaks down the hair shaft, and can degrade the structure of you hair. No hair care
products can protect you from this, but EverEscents products are designed to help replenish and put
back some of that moisture.
Choose your brushes & combs carefully
Some brushes and combs are much more damaging than others, usually the softer the brush, the lesser
the damage. If the brush tears or pulls the hair then it is damaging the cuticle.
Never use rubber bands in hair – rubber bands are a hair cuticles nightmare, they are destructive and
can tear and chip away at the hair, causing immense and un-necessary damage. Try a clip or a soft
material type of band (preferably with no mental joiner).
Hands off
Handling hair is another form of damaging friction that cause fractures the hair cuticle. The less you
interact with your hair the better. If you run your hands through your hair, twirl it, twist it, flick it – develop
another habit.
Shedding the layers
Like the skin on your face and body, your scalp too must go through a regular shedding process; the
lowest layers are where the new cells are generated. Shedding is good..
Bed Head – Consider sleeping on a satin pillowcase instead of a cotton one. The cotton fibres cause
friction, grabbing the individual hairs and breaking them.
Towel Head
When drying your hair avoid rigorous rubbing (usually with your head upside down with the towel), this
again causes friction damage, therefore damaging the cuticle and will assist in making your hair frizzy.
Try using either patting or squeezing motions or put your hair up in the towel to soak up the moisture –
