Culture in the widest sense everything the man himself creatively brings forth, in
contrast to the not created by him and did not change nature. Cultural services are all
forming transformations of a given material, as in the art or the fine arts, but also
mental structures such as law, morality, religion, economics and science. On the other
hand, there are cultural studies. Cultural Studies explores the material and symbolic
dimensions of cultures. It combines the aspects of cultural anthropology, art history,
musicology, literary studies, theater studies, film studies, media studies,
communication studies, linguistics, ethnology, etc., in various combinations, thus
forming a rich sister discipline of the humanities. In parts of cultural studies also have
recourse to social, economic and human sciences? Cultural studies thus constitute a
highly interdisciplinary faculty.
Our task was to find a case that basically was taken up by a media council. The case
should include the use of cultural dimension. After careful research, I was able to find
an article that totally enhances the cultural diversity dimensions. The article was
found on the German site presserat.de and talks about building a church in a German
city and the reason why or why not it was prohibited to be built. A mosque in a small
Bavarian town should not be built. Reason: Muslims do not drink beer and eat no
pork. Cited as a national newspaper of a petition, which has sent a local citizens'
initiative at the Bavarian parliament. The spokesperson for the initiative sees the
publication of an erroneous and biased representation of the petition and a
corresponding press release. The reader would not correctly informed, the citizens'
initiative discredited. From a multi-page justification of the petition a few lines were
picked out and processed into a malicious drafted short message. The spokesperson
for the initiative is aimed at the German Press. I chose this particular article because
Germany is not usually a country that treats foreigners the wrong way and this article
seemed like perfectly matching for this project.
Hofstede shows that national and regional cultural groups have a significant influence
on the behavior of firms, in particular the organization and leadership. In his study
"national influences", described in more detail in the article intercultural cooperation,
where he identified six dimensions of cultural diversity. This shows that basically
cultural diversity has a big influence for all of us. Cultural diversity refers to the
existence of multiple identities and cultures within and between human groups and
societies. The Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, the United Nations
proposed that cultural diversity - as a source of exchange, innovation and creativity for humanity is as important as biodiversity is for nature. A part of cultural diversity
is the diversity of languages. The concept of cultural diversity (or the cultural
diversity) was taken up in other international declarations and conventions, such as
the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of
Cultural Expressions (2005), the Declaration of Montreal (2007), as well as
documents of the European Union. Cultural diversity is considered as one of the roots
of cultural change, and this should be taken not only in terms of economic growth, but
also as a way to achieve a more satisfactory intellectual, emotional, moral and

spiritual existence. The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and
Development is an action of UNESCO; the annual 21 May is celebrated. It aims to
create awareness of cultural diversity. Basically the whole project will concentrate on
cultural diversity and the different dimensions it is related to. I will extremely focus
on Hofstede’s work.
