Diploma work project: Regulation of the Recombination Activating Gene locus Diploma student position is available at the laboratory of Gene Regulation and Molecular Immunology in the division of Cell Biology. The project studies the regulation of the Recombination Activating Gene locus which is necessary for the development of the adaptive immune system through the V(D)J recombination process. See also http://www.i-med.ac.at/cellbio/labore/labore.html The work involves general DNA and RNA molecular biology techniques as well as FISH, regular and real-time PCR, FACS analysis and sorting. Additionally, extensive work with mice is involved and in particular the generation of transgenic and knockout mice. Experience in any of the above is welcome but not essential: detailed training and close supervision will be provided, in any case, in the beginning. Most important is the willingness to learn and be trained and the flexibility to adapt to the specific demands of this laboratory. Good working practice (keeping of laboratory notebooks and protocols) important. A cheerful and friendly attitude towards colleagues, mice and experiments essential. English is essential.
