Learn about and practice the essential elements of spoken English — vowel and consonant pronunciation, intonation, linking and blending, word stress, sentence stress, and reductions. Review the strategies that can improve your formal speaking skills. This class will provide you the opportunity to practice making speeches and presentations, with helpful feedback from the instructor. This course will cover listening strategies and the fundamentals of essay sitting. This course will cover the grammatical structures and usage rules commonly tested by the TOEFL, and strategies to improve reading speed and comprehension. Intermediate General English provides instruction in all language skills: listening, speaking, reading, -writing, grammar, and vocabulary. This class is designed for those -who have an elementary to intermediate proficiency in English and -who are ready to become more sophisticated speakers of English. Through extensive practice in class, participants will develop both greater fluency and accuracy in the use of English and expand their understanding of English vocabulary.
